Default Any Solution to compatibility of bonus Narwhal mod and RFB2.0?

Here's my list of mods:

RFB 2.0
RFB 2.0 Apl 2010 patch
RSRDC RFB V575
RSRDC V5xx patch
Improved Stock Environment for TMO/RFB
Improved ship physics 1.1
New Narwhal K v.1.8.5

When I start career in Narwhal I found that there's no crew member (accurately only 3 crew members) in the roster......

Any solutions or patches to solve it?

p.s. How to expand the amount of crew slots of deck guns? It seems silly that only 2 guys man those huge 6 inch guns in stock narwhal

The UPC files for NARWHAL need a lot of editing to add all that crew. It can be done. I've thought of trying to do it but don't have the time or ability. - I might have the ability BUT, I lost interest in RFB - mostly because of having to micro-manage the crew whenever I dive for a periscope attack. That's too real for me. A couple other reasons too.

I didn't play SH3, a lot of people do like it though, and I think that's how micro-managing crew seems so natural to so many.

Team Keltos made NARWHAL RFB compatible from what he knew RFB was going to be at the time, and you can tell they added some crew (your two gunners) - but didn't finish the UPC when RFB 2.0 came out. It would have been a ton of work. They would have needed to add the damage model for the watch, moving them for every dive etc.... a hole can of worms to make NARWHAL perform like all the other boats.

Add to that, about that time SH5 came out and all these projects ground to a halt; TMO, RFB, etc, and everyone (except me : ) became distracted and moved over to SH5.

I would look inside RSRDC RFB V575 first to see if the Narwhal is already in there, if it is you're overwriting that version with an incompatible Narwhal mod, I've never used RFB so I don't know if that is a fact, no harm done in checking first is there.

Bump! I've found a solution to this problem!

All crew slots are assigned, though the 6-inch gun is replaced by RSRDC's original 4' gun.......

And with one more problem: No gunfire sound of the deck gun nor the .50 AA MG.......

Any instructions to find out where this problem is?

Nice find, (the post) and as you can see, so many have tried. Don't get frustrated, this can be solved. RSRD & RFB may need to be modified to accept the NARWHAL mod for the true NARWHAL and real guns to appear. I think what's happening is RSRD's kit bashed NARWHAL guns are being installed.

Need to compare the Stock installed NARWHAL UPC files, and other files with what is installed with this 'fix' by James Nix (and others).

The 6" guns that were installed when NARWHAL was built after WWI have a powerful sound and do not look like the twin 50's. NARWHAL never had 4" guns. Those are from the kit bashed NARWHAL Ducimas made for TM that RSRD may have modified.

The 'fix' needs to be compared to what is installed by a plain Stock install on a Stock game.

For example it looks like these need to be compared, maybe more:

\New Narwhal K v 1.8.5\Data\Library\USSubParts
\Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData\weapons.upc
\Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData\upgrades.upc
\Data\Submarine\NSS_Narwhal\NSS_Narwhal.cfg

You should be having the Stock install NARWHAL experience, the 6" guns, their sound etc.

Any chance that you use Multi-SH4 and can copy your install to have a 2nd Stock install to install NARWHAL on to make this comparison easier?

well.....I cant open those files in Library\USSubParts
Ive found that there is many differences between the narwhal and RFB in weapons.upc and upgrades.upc, but I don't think they're the key of the problem

I suspect that the problem hide in NSS_Narwhal.upc, cos once I change the value in it following james_nix' solution it works but miss the Narwhal's original 6 inch gun and gun-fire-sound, while the original Narwhal mod's value makes the crew roster in empty and missing two deck guns completely.

Thank you, very clever what they did. The biggest problem then is no sound.

Library\USSubParts needs to be opened with the S3D tool that I'm no expert with it.

I checked James Nix's profile and it says his favorite is SH4 (good news) and his last post was 12-04-2016 - he is still active, plus he is a supporter of Subsim. Maybe he is on Christmas break or something.

You could message him and ask if he would help. Some step is missing not to have the gun sounds and he might know the answer. Just click his name and click send a message. It is worth a try.
