Default A return to Silent Hunter (and a bunch of random stuff)

This day marks my return to playing the Silent hunter series after a two year hiatus... Also the day I put TMO on my SH4 instead of RFB... And the day I start watching Effing Controler's let's plays again...

And on to the other stuff...

I've bought a block based building game on Steam early access called From The Depths.

Currently I'm building 2.2:1 scale replicas of ships.

An example would by the Imperial Russian Battleship Retvizan (later Imperial Japanese Battleship Hizen) built by Cramps in South Philadelphia.

A sample pic:

Now I'm currently constructing the old US ships the Battleship Iowa BB-4 and the Oregon BB-3 as well as the Russian battleship Potemkin/Panteleimon (yes the one involved in the revolution).

My current issue is that I'm lacking internal structural information about these ships. Deck heights, position of bulkheads, layout of an how the armored deck meets the belt armour.

At the moment the Subsim is the only place I know I could ask in where someone might have the information I need...

I could try Piratesahoy, but that place deals on mostly age of sail ships (I'm taking a break from that era).

So I call upon anyone who might have any information regarding those vessels in question.

Thanks... Sort of spent too much time playing Age of piracy city of abandoned ships and also too much time being a small time modder in it's online community Piratesahoy...

Extremely rusty on anything that goes underwater intentionally at the moment... Also being new to TMO (used RFB years ago) might not help in the slightest...

On to more random stuff. From scouring the web for internal plans for the vessels I'm trying to recreate... I stumbled upon the plans of the project 50 Tauchshiff on a site called dreadnaughtproject.

It was an evolution of the U-cruiser concept with an internal turntable pair of torpedo tubes in addition to a regular set of eight tubes. On the deck sits a pair of funnels with fairings and four 15cm deck guns. From the cross section frame shots it also appears that it may have had some belt armor.

I suggest opening the image in a seperate tab since it's quite massive...

Imagine a happy time; 1898; the battle of Santiago; crew can actually stand on the deck of a modern battleship (12" main guns") and watch the shooting-seen ongoing!
