Ive been around a bit but for some reason I havent 'jumped' on the expansion.

Tell me in your own words, why should I buy the expansioin?

Because its a new way to enjoy SH4. Not only are there new features in the US campaign, there is a whole new one to enjoy with the U-Boats. And for $9.95, you cant go wrong.

Were you still playing with patch 1.3 when patch 1.4 was out ? The only diffrence is you have to pay $10 because there is a lot more than just a patch would give . There are things in the addon that modders could never do in a million years

Put it this way, there's at least two dozen cool new features in this expansion which are added on top of what would be a regular patch. So, you're paying less than 50 cents per cool feature (just to name them - things like new ship models, a shiny new IXD2, a German campaign, crew "special abilities" and "strategic options", new status indicators, and so on...). I'd say that's more than reasonable.

Look, I'm having a blast with my new U-Boat. It's great to start up the game and not hear "all stop." I'm sure there are more American bug fixes in there but truthfully I've been having fun with the U-Boat.

Well, maybe this add-on isn't quite your cup of tea. Maybe you have no interest in playing the U-Boat in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. (fool!!!!!!!:rotfl

How do you feel about an Atlantic U-Boat campaign? How do you feel about continued evolution of the Silent Hunter series replacing the every five years earthquake?

If you want to see the things you DO want to see (note the irritating use of all caps for clearer communication) sometimes you have to finance things you don't quite think would be good. And you should be open to the possibility that the add-on you didn't see anything good in will just be a ton of fun, like SH4UBM!

Hey man, we're financing the future. The future of the past that is. And we're keeping our favorite devs in a good job. What's not to like?

Weird proposal: It's 1943. The German High command sees the handwriting on the wall. All the production of U-Boats is doing nothing more than going to the bottom of the ocean for no gain. Donitz meets with Colonel Klink and comes up with an audacious new plan to take pressure off the German theater: Operation Hemorrhoid!

Immediately, 250 crack U-Boats and crews will be dispatched to Japan and Rabaul. U-Boat production facilities will be built in Japan as well. The mission: kill American submarines by dominating crucial choke points, attacking US submarine bases and crippling American supply ships. Japanese air power will make U-Boats much more effective in the Pacific than they could be in the Atlantic, and the US will be forced to take resources from the European theater to fight this new threat. Talk about a pain in the arse!!!

The Germans' 20-knot acoustic homing torpedo will be the key to elimination of the US submarine threat in the Pacific. Hold on to your knickers, this could get just a little bit bumpy!

As I said in another thread, YES.

It's just a downloadable .exe installer. No strings attached (except that you need to do online activation for your "CD key" when you actually install it).

You can also redownload it as many times as you need to from Ubi/direct2drive

2. Run add-on installation file.

1. German campaigns are now accesible through the main menu button "U-boat campaign". To play a career with the US Silent Service, use the new "American Career" button. The included campaign focuses on German operations in the Indian Ocean and nearby areas.
2. When commanding a German u-boat it is possible to enable the Kriegsmarine Grid Quadrant Overlay over the Navigation map.
