If you can be in a position south west of Scapa for the afternoon of 6th Sept. ypu'll come across three BB's Renown, Repulse and Hood plus 3 DD escorts returning to the base.

If you can position yourself to the north of Loch Ewe late in the afternoon of 22nd Oct. you'll come across the BB's Hood, Rodney, Nelson, the Carrier Furious, the cruisers Belfast and Aurora plus 9 DD escorts.

I've seen, and sunk the occasional Southhampton in port.
A southhampton is not a capital class , it's a light cruiser
I only encountered one capital ship yet, (currently may '42) a Revenge class escorting a convoy. Never saw another one, I've been in Scapa Flow, Gibraltar, St. Helena and New York. Cruisers I have encountered plenty.
Maybe the numbers of sightings will grow now that the tide of the war is turning (although technically we Kaleuns don't know that yet ).

Asked this in another thread some weeks ago, but just as well might try it again; does anybody know where large liners are most likely to show up?
And when? I have had a lot of careers, but the bulk of them were from '39 to late '42. And I've never come across a liner. I came across cruisers, battleships and carriers, but NEVER a liner.
So do they show up later in the game? Or do they travel more on a specific route?
(I haven't been to the more northern Atlantic -around Iceland and Greenland- that much, so perhaps that's it?)

Are you playing stock/vanilla or one of the supermods?

Why, GWX of course!
After a serious case of mod-soup I did a fresh install. I haven't got the "Wilhelmshaven Schluese and St Nazaire plus extra ship"mod installed this time, but I still have it. But it doesn't add large liners does it?

Most of the Liners are in the random campaign and subject to % chances of appearing.

We done that mainly because players were posting the co-ordinates of the routes they were scripted in.

Lie off Halifax or New York and your sure to come across them regularly.

Did just that the other day, but the escorts were so numerous and so active that I only had time to score a couple of direct hits on the Hood.

She limped off into the sunset, listing badly but still afloat... What I wouldn't have given for another moment or two (unmolested) to finish her off.

Sounds to me like the escorts did their job

Too well for my liking... I barely had time to crash dive before getting rammed, plus one of my props got destroyed in the process so I could only limp along at 1 knot on the surface (even at flank).

Pursuit with electrics was pretty much a useless exercise as they kept sending a new trailer escort every time I took the old one down.

Tough to come so close only to lose her, but lessons were learned and I'm eager to have another go.

Is the Bismark's attempted breakout modelled in GWX?
