Default Attacked too early!

My last career came to an end when I had another tab open and my boat ran aground near Salamis. I started a new one in 1939, and was patrolling the Western Approaches on Aug 2, war with Poland had been declared, but not with England. I'm shadowing a medium sized convoy, full of Whale Factory Ships, Large Tankers and Medium Cargo ships, it's day light, but over cast and choppy. Suddenly the lead escort, with a UK Naval Ensign makes a beeline form, spitting fire and looking to ram. I dive, and evade, then a few hours later come a cross a lone Whale Factory Ship with a British flag. I sink it, and it's green.....are the escorts hard coded to attack me regardless, or did I do something wrong?

If you attack a neutral ship you become the enemy of that country for 24 hours. They will attack you during that time period. This is also true of friendly ships.

Thing was, I'd not attacked ANYONE when the destroyer came after me. I was just shadowing the convoy, it was 0700 on 2, Aug. I was going to wait till the third, then attack, the escorts however came after me as soon as they detected me. I sank the neutral after being chased off.

I have heard that the English get the war notification before the Germans. I can't say for sure, however. Once you get the war notification the English cities should go red.

In August 1939 -a month before the outbreak of war- was a U-boat type VII-B in the port of Kiel. I began to experience a German torpedo boats were in the harbor, making two of them sink. But in trying torpoing one third boat I was attacked by German war ships with guns and depth charges. He had come to Kiel from the Gulf of Guinea, crossing the Atlantic and the English Channel and occasionally some merchant ships crossing. There was not nor I saw any convoy warships and no one attacked me. The game does not always act logically.

Will be a pleasure. Starting the first campaign in SH3, the first patrol was August 1, 1939, one month before the outbreak of World War II. The patrol began in the Gulf of Guinea off the coast of Africa, and from there I was ordered to sail to a grid that was patrolling the area near the port of Kiel. On the way sailing in peacetime and surface at night, crossing several lone merchant ships sailing with their lights on. I came to Kiel and then it occurred to me to test the reactions of the game to an action against all logic. In the port of Kiel torpedo attack two cargo ships, one German and one neutral, and attempting an attack on a third, received gunfire and then to plunge depth charges from German warships. It was a test to see the reaction of the game, before my unusual attitude.

All right. As far as I understand, when you attack neutral or friendly ships the country will treat you as hostile for the next 24 hours. So in a German sub attacking Germans, you should expect the warships to turn hostile to you.

An unusual way to test the AI, but that's thinking outside the box for you.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess...

I guess the main culprit for such audacity on my part, was boredom, after 22 days of sailing from the Gulf of Guinea to Kiel, patrolling 24 hours. a grid and reach port unshaven and patience on the floor! Jajaja.
