The Base GR2 Exporter as released won't export animations.
I've never tested the exporter that might.
I'd have to re-install SH5 to test it.
If someone sends me a link to the GR2 file with the animations?
I'll see what it does.

SORRY !! This is SH4
Yes, the GR2_Exporter may not export animations but it can export other items from SH5 and that data may be usible in SH4 with some tweaks.

Export of animations from a GR2 is not that difficult.
It can be done several ways.
The problem is that We have no way to import those animations to SH4.
We can only use SH3 style animations at this time.
Which is kind of a sad state of affairs for the most part.
Createing new animations for SH5 is also a straight forward process.
There are Tools on the 'Net to do that right now!

The real questions are - If it is possible export/import these animations. How much effort is required to make these crew animations in SHIV and is it really worth the effort?

If a Crew animation tool is created, I think both SHIII and SHIV would soon have animated crew walking around the boat interiors/exteriors.

Edit:
In Silent Hunter III I have seen animations of guards and dock workers walking around so I know this is possible.
Seeing that SHIII/SHIV do not use waypoints, animations would be static and customised for specific interior spaces.
Event Triggers could be use to initiate animations.
From what I have seen, SHIII has the best interior crew animations.

Right! This is real craftsmanship. Not "let's throw this out there half finished for a few bucks". I'll have to try an Atlantic SH4 career once this comes out.
