@ WEBSTER

your explanation about the upgrade for SHIV was spot on for me, I had a ATI X1650 with 512 on it and that was my greatest card until it overheated and seized up (i still mourn it's loss) my next card (bought from necessity )was an ATI HD2400, worst decision ever! it still works to this day, in my stepdad's music computer. so to keep myself sane i bought an ATI HD3450 with 512 and it almost matches my orig. X1650.

BFGTech GTX 280 OC w/ 1GB video memory. (AMD Phenom II X4 [quad-core] 955 Black Edition OC'd to 3.8GHz on an Asus Crosshair Formula III MB with 8 GB Ram @ 1600MHz on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit pumping data to that card!). Plus it helps having 2 X WD VelociRaptors in a RAID 0 to move data quickly...
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit runs SH3 and SH4 with no problems btw.
That GTX280 powers a 30" Samsung Widescreen LCD monitor @ 2560 X 1600.

Again, it wasn't an option on the poll, but depending on my Christmas bonus this year (fingers crossed!), I'll be upgrading to a quad core and a graphics card with 1 gb of memory beacuse #1: it's time and #2: in anticipation of SH5.

Default My System

XFX ATI 4850 1GB, Phenom II 940, 4GB Ram, Vista 64 Enterprise (and really when discussing video ram, monitor resolution is important, as bigger monitor = more ram required), 1280x1024 (for now), possibly 1680x1050. The screens of SHV look pretty demanding. It will be interesting to see how it runs when it comes out.

salut marian

the results should be predictable. 512 Mb video cards will win. second place 1gb video cards and then the rest.
but these results should be taken into considerations with a bit of salt. Not everyone that is a fan of Silent Hunter/ buys Silent Hunter is a member of this community or @ Ubi.

I'm running an eVga 9600GT 512 meg.
Its the best card I've ever bought. Runs everything I can throw at it. My next PC will have an eVga 9800GT in it. I was planning on going upto the Nvidia 200 series but I heard they have problems with FSX.
