Hi Captains,

in the next Upgrade many vessels are reworked.
Most SH3 ships i have used for FOTRS now got an damage-model like SH4 Ships.
That means that you can see the damaged interior of an ship.

The light crusier CL 51 USS Atlanta also is an new model in the upgrade.

Regards

Maddy

Thanks Subron! One of my favorites, right now it's my desktop background. I love the badass look on the pilot's face. An unflinching expression which says: Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I shall fear no evil. For I am the meanest sonuva bitch in the valley.

Ya know, that screenshot would provide some pretty stiff competition in the Screenshot Comps over at the Ubi SHIV Forums.

Default Competition?

Hmmm. Despite my artistic aversion to crass competitions, perhaps I will have to check that out. Thanks for the heads-up.

Here's one that shows the effect of a rare direct bomb hit on a Destroyer's bow. Love the damage texturing. Wish all ships had the same kinds of textures.

Default Extra! Secret Air Corp Experiments Flop!

The Top Secret tests involved an attempt to develop a submersible airplane. The Army and Navy are tight-lipped about the matter, but a whistle-blower from within the program who asked to remain anonymous had this to say:

"The idea was nuts from the start. It was nothing but a waste of good money, machines, and a few good pilots. That Dr., what's his name, sic Frankenfurter or something, he dreamed it up. What do you expect from a whacked-out transplanted Kraut anyway?"

The scientist referred to is actually one Dr. Klaus Flugendorf, an emigre from Germany who fled the food. Yes, that's right, not the Nazis, the food. Flugendorf, nicknamed Crazy Klaus, was unavailable for comment as it is rumored that he is being treated at a federal psychiatric facility.

Included is the only extant photograph of the Sub-Plane trials.

As you can see, the plane is actually a nearly unmodified Wildcat Fighter plane. Experts shown the photo were aghast and said the tests were fatally flawed. "Doomed to catastrophe," one said. "Insane in its inception," said another, who added: "Just plain Bughouse-crazy."

Is the TMO version of RSRDC compatible with this mod?

If not, are the FOTRS scripted campaign layers historically accurate?

Thanks for any replies.

@ HCMS

i have reworked some scripted campaign layers.
For example in the battle of midway now you can see the real Kaga and the Akagi.
I also have changed some US-Ships. There are no Carriermodel doubled.

Maddy

OK, thanks for getting back to me. I assume that the layers for the Battles Of Guadalcanal, Santa Cruz, The Phillipine Sea and Leyte Gulf are essentially stock?

What do you suppose would happen if one was to cherry-pick these battles from RSRDC(TMO) and load them seperately?

Hmm you can try it but i havent look into the files from RSRDC.
You have to notice that the most campaign-files from FOTRS are based on TMO.
That means that some of them should be compatible.
Test it mate, more than an CTD could not happen

Maddy

@nedlow

I would love to see you enter the Screenshot Comps over at the UBi Forums. It always is nice to have some some fresh insight.

OK, I've got some useful feedback.

What I like:
  • Visually, it's a beautiful mod; probably the most visually appealing IMO.
  • The escorts are suitably nasty customers.
  • I like the wider variety of merchants and the models are nicely done.
  • It's challenging in calm weather as the targets tend to spot me at longer distances and it requires good planning to line up the shot.
What I think can be improved:
  • Your torpedoes are way, way too reliable. I fired complete loadouts in my Porpoise Class boat in two patrols in Dec-Mar 41/42 and had 26 hits; of these, only one was a dud. Not in line with the historical record for US torpedoes.
  • Medals need fixing. Too many bronze and silver stars...I'm going to load the TMO medals fix and see if that works ok.
All in all, it's a great mod.

2 Questions;
1.How do I install Hogan's Alley?
2.How do I fix it so I can start with the Full-Tub Conning Tower instead of the Half-Tub?
