bullhorn Kuznetsov to be scrapped?

Well I have been reading like most of you may well have been too that the Russian Navy only "aircraft carrier" is to be scrapped.
The reason behind it allegedly is the PD50 will take a long time to salvage if it can be at all, the PD50 is the only place this vessel can be housed for refits and upgrades.

Although as you guys remember i went to see Igor Kurdin last year they are in the process of building a new facility in the North this wont be ready until the early to mid 2020's so what would be the point of leaving the "carrier" hanging around?

I have always advocated the scrapping of Kuznetsov as well as the Slava and Kirov classes and channeling the money into a decent DDG program, they should focus on carriers later on but right now i dont think it is wise, they should cut their loss and scrap her.

They are renovating a conventional dry dock for it at the 35th factory. CAST in general is very anti Navy.

Prior to the GPV 2015 there was no money for the Navy, either upgrading old or building new ships, with very few exceptions. After GPV 2015 and especially GPV 2020 the money is there and the ball is now on the industrial side of the extend that the MoD had to rebalance their spending away from Navy, as they were unable to use that money on procurement on time.

As such I do not see an argument for the scrapping of major surface combatants in favor of a DDG program, especially after what the Northern shipyard & co did with Gorshkov program (even if we excuse them in part due to the power plant delays)

I was aware Putin cut the budget but to be quite honest i think it is time they got rid of Kuznetsov she is an embarrassment to the fleet and its just throwing good money after bad.

thats just my view

The budget was rebalanced, not cut. Ie because of delays in programs Navy couldn’t spend their money so that money went elsewhere instead of sitting in their accounts doing nothing. Same happened to a bunch of programs, in fact there were times when there were overall left overs in the procurement budget.

A clarification - overall MoD budget was not really cut, there was (mis) reporting by the Jane's a while ago, but it was a false interpretation of how our procurement works.

From the duma it appears the budget was cut slightly the recent announcement with the boreis and all the current financial industries are marking it as well.

but the economy on the whole is in growth so im thinking its temporary after all isnt there elections coming up?

As a rule the actual defense spending is larger than the original in the budget due to the follow up edits.

Will they scrap her and stay out of the Carrier-business ?

Or

Will they replace her with a new one, perhaps bigger and of course more modern ?
