Crash to Desktop when going to the Museum in SH4
After installing TMO + RSRD + ISP + ISP patch my SH4 crashes to the desktop when I try to go to the Museum. Anyone else have that issue or know a fix for it?

I remember some setup of mods would cause a crash if I went to the museum. It might be the TMO+RSRD combo.
The two easy fixes are: A. Unload mods, and keep trying until you find which one is causing the crash, and then don't use that one. or B. Don't go to the museum.

Do not go to the museum you can do that online anyway. With additional shipping from RSRD it will crash all the time and it is in the documentation.

RSRSC has a problem with several of its ships/planes in the museum. The problem is varied, but is directly connected to RSRDC.
Most of the time.....if a ship/plane causes a CTD in the Museum, it may cause a CTD in-game when ever that particular game asset is spawned in-game. Sure, you can avoid using the Museum, but you could get a CTD during a Mission or Campaign game due to the same issue. You'll scratch your head, wonder why, and go on to play another day. Not knowing why it happened. The Museum is a great way to check to see if a mod is stable, or not, with all assets it brings to the game. For instance, if you add OTC to TMO/RSRDC you won't get a CTD.....because I fixed the problem.

Optical Targeting Correction (OTC).
If your using TMO 2.5 with RSRDC v502 use this edition of OTC. I found these Museum issues and corrected them. I've always believed if I made a "compatible mod" for another, why not fix issues as you find them? There's a few other ship/plane issues with RSRDC within the Museum that do not create CTD's, but are just as problematic non the less. Watch the U.S. Avenger Torpedo Plane for at least 3 minutes......the nose of the plane will slowly rise to maybe 60 degrees, stall, then crash to the sea. OTC does not fix this (I just recently found this out). On my computer I have repaired the planes flight data to keep it flying as expected. Again, without correcting this planes data file, you'll never see it in-game. Usually the Museum mirrors what the game assets will do.

Holy Cow! I don't know how I missed the OTC mod in the past. Thanks for letting me know about it.
The new background sounds are great. Now if I can just get the galley crew to stop banging pots while we're silent running... |

Hi all. I know this is an older thread, but I'm experiencing the same issue and can't seem to find a way around it. SH4 1.5 with TMO 2.5 and RSRD TMO V502 (and patch).
I keep getting a CTD when trying to go into the museum, and not even installing the OTC mod has fixed it. As much as I'd like to have access to the Museum, I'm more concerned about corrupted ships and/or planes spawning and causing a CTD during gameplay. Any help or advice would be thoroughly appreciated! I like the RSRD mod and would like to keep it (great Shinano model!) but not at the cost of possible CTDs. |

If that's true then there is more trouble to your game install than what RSRDC brings to the Museum. Remove all mods from your game, and allow JSGME to run its "Compare Snapshot" feature found in it's "Tasks...." menu. However, don't bother if you didn't follow JSGME's instructions when you first installed your game with JSGME to take the original clean install "snapshot". You'll be better off removing all aspects of the game (including the "SH4" folder that's put into your "Documents" folder by the game) and starting over with a clean install. Then take the Snapshot for future use. The feature will show what's Removed; Different; or the Same; with your original game files after adding/removing mods within JSGME. The maker of JSGME realized the app isn't going to keep track of every time a user does something that causes JSGME to lose a file placement. The Compare Snapshot feature helps in telling you when something messed with the game files that JSGME can't straighten out.

Hi Wizz, its probably a good idea to reinstall the game if you haven't made a "Snapshot" of your clean game files within JSGME. The app feature is invaluable when trouble with game files show up (and they will when you activate/deactivate mods within JSGME). JSGME does a great job in trying to keep everything straight, but when players try adding mods that aren't compatible with each other.......files get corrupted. So will deactivating mods "out of order" of their activation.......in other words, don't remove your 4th mod in "order of activation" when you have number 5 and 6 mods still activated. Take out your 6th mod first, then your 5th, before removing your 4th mod from the game. Do it in "order"......this will help to keep JSGME straight in its file keeping.
The fact that your game will run the Museum with just the TMO 2.0 mod is encouraging. But, when the correct version of RSRDC is used with TMO (that would be the RSRDC v502, and its RSRDC v5xx Patch1) and you have a CTD just opening the Museum......there's something wrong. The Museum should at least open with TMO 2.0 and the two RSRDC mods (although you will get CTD's with some of the ships/planes from RSRDC when you try to open them). If your using the correct RSRDC version for TMO 2.0 I think I would redownload the RSRDC mods. You could have a corupt download that's missing a file, causing the unexpected CTD.
