A MAJOR MESS AT MY HOUSE THIS AM ENSUES- FOR SOME TIME A MAJOR SETTLING OF MY FRONT YARD ALONG THE STREETCURB DUE TO A COMBINTION OF HUGE OLD CITY TREE-ROOTS ROTTING; A GAS LINE BUILT ON A DEEP SAND TRENCH; MY SEWER LINE TO THE STREET; AND TWO EARTHQUAKES HAVE CREATED A GROUND SETTLING ON THE FRONT TEN FEET OF MY LOT- GENERALLY EMINENT DOMAINED BY THE MUNICIPALTIY FOR UTILITIES, CURBS AND CITY-TREES ETC. -WHICH MAKES IT THE CITY'$ PROBLEM!

I DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM OVER A YEAR AGO WHILE DOING YARD WORK AND SUDDENLY SINKING UP TO MY HIP! IN A 1 FOOT HOLE IN MY RIVER-ROCK TRIM BORDER WHICH APPEARS BOTTOMLESS WHEN STEELE- PROBED BY THE CITY, GAS AND SANITATION DEPARTMENTS. (PROBLEM#1: MY ONGOING AWARENESS OF THE PROBLEM AND SOMEONE(ELDERLY DOGWALKER, KIDS PLAYING ETC. WALKING ON MY SIDEWLK SUFFERING INJURY FROM A SIMILAR SINKHOLE COULD MAKE ME FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR AN 'IMPEDIMENT TO THE FOOTPATH' AGAINST MY HOMEOWNER INSURANCE-THUS A PREVENTIVE REMEDY IS MANDATED.

I'M CALLING MY LANDSCAPER TO BRING SOIL AND MORE TRIM ROCK(2 CUBIC YARDS'LL DO IT) ONCE THE SINKHOLE IS FILLED BY THE CITY. MY TWENTY YEAR OLD WEEDPATCH FRONT LAWN NEEDED REPLACEMENT ANYWAY

FORTUNATLY THE PG&E GAS- LINE/ SAND-TRENCH APPEARS SOUND ENOUGH-ALTHOUGH THE SANITATION DEPT. GUYS OUT FRONT SAY: "IT'S ALWAYS MORE FUN (SINCE THE RECENT NAPA/SONOMA FIRES DISASTER) TO BLAME THOSE GUYS".

THEY FILLED IN THE HOLE WITH SAND, ROCK AND RESTORED MY ROCK TRIM...CRISES AVERTED.... FOR THE MOMENT.
