Does anyone have any information on German\Axis convoys ?
Allied convoys are much and well documented but cant find anything on Axis ones which is a surprise as the KM were meticulous in documenting everything Anyone ? |

I have a book about german Destroyers and Torpedo Boats in WW2 that details all their operations, including of course convoy escort. It is written by Volkmar Kühn and is only in german AFAIK. The title: "Torpedoboote und Zerstörer im Einsatz 1939-1945" Flechsig Verlag. I bought it in Wien last year. If you want information about specific convoy routes I can try to find it for you in the book :hmm:

the problem is: there was some traffic along the coast (Norwy), but only some (3-5) ships together. So you can't speak from a "Convoy" in the sense of "Allied Convoys". Mostly close to the coast with full air coverage by the Luftwaffe. In LSH3 3.0, i've scripted some german "convoys" from Kiel/Wilhelmshaven up to Bergen and Trondheim - more as an "eye-candy". I have a book stored somewhere, which means I can't actually get it out and quote it. It's one of those novel-like paperbacks that came out in the early '50s, and is specifically about British MTB actions in the Channel. The author describes nightly patrols looking for small convoys and the actions involved when they were found. If I remember correctly he says that there were regular convoys of small ships from Seebruge to Wilhelmshaven, and that they were escorted by flaklighters and schnellboots. This led to some wild-and-hairy skirmishes between the torpedo boats of both sides.
Not much help, but I thought I'd throw that in.
