I have recently upgraded from 512mb 8800GT Overclocked to a 1GB GTs 250 and am puzzled by your performance or lack of it . Im using the same drivers as yourself but have no drop in gameplay. I am unsure of the FPS as until reading this thread I didn't know how to, although control room is very smooth with no lag. I am playing on 1280 x1024, with everything maxed, i'll have a proper look at the settings tommorrow and let you know

Playing on Intel Core Quad Q6600 @2.4Ghz
3GB RAM (unsure what type)
Vista 32bit SP 2
Nvidia 1GB GTS 250 Overclocked

p.s. Try dropping back your drivers to older versions, may help.

I'm using a GTS250 (1GB) and no issues at all. Only thing i turned down was shadows to medium. Everything else maxed at 1680x1050

My System:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (Dual Core) /w 2GB System Ram
OS: Windows XP

It's almost 2 years old now & getting long in the tooth.. but im still playing all the games out with high detail.

I had Windows7 on here briefly, but i got alot better performance in games with XP... so i promptly removed 7. Maybe after a few service packs and i build a new PC i'll give it another try.

I'm using a 9800 GT Maxed out but shadows are in the middle with no lag at all. Average 40-50 FPS. Inside of the sub-20-30. You may want to try over clocking your card if you keep having a problem. And you spent 300 dollars on that? I found one at best buy for 104. It was less then the 9800 GT. Hmm, that's weird.

The GTS250 is just a rebranded 9800GTX+.

Its virtually the same thing.

Yes that was why i went from 8800gt to gtx260 over the gts250. Just trying to figure out why i have this problem. Just tried 3 latest drivers and even with all game settings low its not playable. I think i might have a bad card or something. This time i used driver sweeper in safe mode after uninstalling nvidia drivers in control panel. Could the gtx260 have a problem with a Asus Xonar hdav 1.3 that the 8800gt dont?

Have you tried changing some settings on the card thru the nvidia control panel.Make sure you set up a profile for SH5.exe. Your AA or AF might be set to 16x. I have mine set on this.Mind you i am running 2 GTX 260s in SLI

I have checked Game Graphic Settings, everything is ticked and all the bars are on Max, as i said on 1280x1024.

Card Settings are pretty much the same as dougandtoni

Yes you press F8 and choose Safe mode to load after u remove drivers on normal mode via panel. Now assuming u have Driver Sweeper remove any nvidia left drivers. Reboot on Normal mod and install the new ones. Never overwrite drivers by just installing em on top of others. But I ve seen u found the solution for correct driver installation urself

Yes i have tried all different settings in control panel. Spent the last 2 days tryin all the combo's to no avail. Best i can get is 13fps using the first 3 minutes of the second historical mission called "in spite of everything" with me being on the bridge while i get 30+ with my 8800gt. Can a few of you check what fps you get at the start of that mission staying on the bridge so i can compare please? I am almost to the point of reformatting and starting from scatch and maybe even go to 32bit before i lose the rest of my hair
