Default Attention Police Officers! *video*

SSGT Guthrie knows and honors his Constitution, (and that of the photographers') it seems:

*Tips Fedora.

The response from the first Police on the scene seems typical.

Next, enter SSGT Guthrie.

The first officer needs a blood test.

And very un-polite of the photographer not to answer where he's from.
He really only inquired, not interogated.

Good and bad in all professions...SSGT Guthrie was certainly the former, not sure about the first officer though.

This is what terrorists aim to accomplish, and it seems they succeeded. No one trusts each other any more. What would otherwise be considered normal innocent behaviour is now perceived as a potential threat. And personal freedom takes a toll.
This brings to mind the WWII exploits of Waffen SS "SS-Standartenführer" Otto Skorzeny, specifically Operation Greif. Suspicions did more damage than Skorzeny's team actions themselves.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Skorzeny

Quote:
"A handful of his men were captured and spread a rumour that Skorzeny personally was leading a raid on Paris to kill or capture General Dwight Eisenhower, who was not amused by having to spend Christmas 1944 isolated for security reasons. Eisenhower retaliated by ordering an all-out manhunt for Skorzeny, with "Wanted" posters distributed throughout Allied-controlled territories featuring a detailed description and a photograph."

I think the general lack of trust for strangers in the West is far more complex an issue than terrorists alone can be credited for. For example the Cold War was a time of extensive paranoia.

I think to a large extent techonolgy can be blamed. People know that they truly have little privacy anymore. As a result people are much more likely to feel infringed when perhaps they are not. At the same time persons in authority are more likely to precive a person as suspicious.

Maim stream media regardless its slant mostly focuses on bad news which makes people more likely to mistrust strangers. I find it ironic that on one hand people complain about lack of privacy on one hand then use social media which of course takes away ones privacy. In other words we are too connected to techonolgy and not other people.

Also having seen the video this seems be another example of "lets do something that some what actually warrants attention and then get into a discussion and kinda sorta be a smart ass".

I would to see an exmple of this type situation that was not baited.
How long where these hanging around at the base gate? Spoiler Alert they knew that base would send someone.

My opnion the SSGT knew the guy was just wanting attenion and played along realizing this was the best conflict free way to resolve things.

A nicely cut video, I'm pretty sure this was intentional
Problem with these videos is that they put one side in the shade while he's some kind of ''I got rights'' crusader acting like an smartass jerk.

Well, you could also say say that all cops are like the first cop on the scene in the video.

If it was cut, as you suggest, why put the constitutional Guthrie in there.

I could tell you why.

Why not paint all cops as monkeys.

Because that would be easy.
And cut.

To confirm the other cops where wrong for being too suspicious of Mr.Jackass with his camera staring at the entrance all day?

Yes, it's very easy to make them look like monkeys by getting their attention like that.

Well, it's a shame that you think he was a jackass for pointing out that there are good cops and bad cops.

His point stands.

His way of bringing that point across stands.

Do we need another video telling us that there are jackass cops and non-jackass cops?
No.

The old saying of: treat others as you want to be treated is evident in this video.

First cop treats photographer like a jackass. (there's that word again).

Second cop treats photographer not like a jackass (and with respect).

I noticed the change in attitude from photographer immediately.

Was he a jackass to Guthrie?
No.

My point?

You calling this guy a jackass for making certain cops look like monkeys is a bit rich.

I get you agree the first cop was wrong.

Your skepticism of this video is your view point, fair enough.

I only saw 1 jackass in this video.
And he didn't have a camera.

I disagree the person filming still tried his best to be conflictive.

As I said before I would love to one of these where the person did not bait the situation. If you do something that you know will draw the cops well they will come. Everyone of these is baited. I bet money that if you just chilled filming and they showed up and just let them say their bit that would be the end of it 90% of the time.

To me these clips are nothing more than one a hole meeting another if the roles where swapped it would have the same out come.

A real cops are bad video would be something like a cop shooting a suspect on the street and just standing there as the guy dies happens in Brazil all the time. Or a cop on film demamding money or a trip to jail. These things are rare in Western nations including the US.
