Don't you miss the days when the TV tells you..

Moving on, doing as much as I can before the weekend as I hear we are in for a heatwave thanks to Spain and their hot air!

Recovering from running a precinct in our primaries yesterday. Sore and stiff. 17 hour day, mostly on my feet.

But we had over 13% voter participation which is saying a lot for a state primary. I have had primaries with a 1% voter turnout.

We had almost 400 people show up. The fact that it was a dual primary probably helped.

Maybe, slowly, the voters are learning that primaries can be important.

Out at the rear of the property and heard the door bell ring, took fifteen seconds at most to reach the front door and the postman had left a card to say my parcel (containing two choppers I had on pre-order) couldn't be delivered so I would need to travel into town tomorrow to pick it up from the central pst office.

Now unless he had rang the bell earlier and I hadn't heard it this postman must be one eager beaver on speed tablets or something of that nature.

Nah your just getting old and deaf like me ; everyone knows: 'the postman always rings twice' Heat wave expected today in the 90's ; so all necessary yard chores in the cool morning; garden sprinkler valves are leaking for some reason. they're fairly new with solid gaskets so a solution is not immediately forthcoming. Then off to the boat marina to repair the essential depth gauge for tomorrow's sail; it's been operating intermittently of late. Sunblock's a must; the captain just had a biopsy on his ear and minor skin cancer surgery is scheduled...and he's always the fussy one about applying it too!

Most post men/women around here are now on zero hours and have to get their rounds done fast. That bit of info came from a now retired postman who is glad to be out of it. Maybe you got the same in your neck of the woods jim.

Hot here but nice and cool walking home from work but I see another heatwave is on the way thanks to Spain and all their hot air coming our way.

It couldn't have been Cliff Clavin From " Cheers " as Cliffy would have either tossed your mail in the yard, kept it or lost it somewhere.

A blazing hot day today and I just dodged outside when I heard merlin engines for the first time this year: a Spit and Hurricane heading south from Coningsby.

Just been informed they were on their way to the Queens Birthday flypast but he states there was a TRIO.

Probably not yet formed up when you saw them.

I hope you took pictures so you can draw and eventually create a painting of them.

When TRIOS are not formed up, are they called DUO's? Had to loan a fire extinguisher (required equipment apparently) to my daughter for her RLS Museum's pirate exhibit at the Vallejo Waterfront today. The Northern California Pirate Festival: costumes appreciated < this one by N.C. Wyeth for RLS's immortal Treasure Island may well have inspired my own immortal sig! "Yo ho ho and a bottle of 'Devils Cut??!!"as opposed to Pusser's Nelson's Blood imho!
