Good question, really. My wife says better... hare has a richer, gamier flavour.

I remember I once tried pheasant and found that much 'richer/gamier' than chicken.

Hmm perhaps someone should create a gastronomic thread........... anyway that's a by the bye, Jim if pheasent was too gamey mate, you should really try guinea fowl. Beautiful eating.

@Eich

Lovely work mate, so envy your nature. London is great for crows, pidgeons, town foxes and such. Pollution and peeps seems to be driving all else out, I remember when Sparrows were everywhere. Can't remember the last time I saw one . Even my annual hedgehog visitors dissappeard couple years back

Thanks, Fubes... not so many peeps up here, thank goodness, and we are getting our sparrows back (now mostly tree sparrows, not house sparrows). I put a blank-load of nesting boxes on the side of the house last winter and they seem to be doing the trick. Costing me a fortune in nuts, mind.

Default Work In Progress:

"The Biter Bit"

Capt. William T. Whisner vanquishes an attacker on 1st January 1945

I'm getting near to finishing the background... still need to highlight or enlarge the clouds on the left. I've also made a start on the aircraft. I do realise that he would probably have ditched his droptanks by this point, but they add interest... I'll probably have to lose them too.

Good work Eich.

Hare seems to be a mountain hare considering the white tail?

Hares in Germany all have the white tail even in summer, which is called "Lampe", or lamp, in hunting circles, because it flashes up when the hare runs (hare called "Meister Lampe" here because of that). Tests have shown that the flaring white tail actually irritates hunting animals like dogs, because it indicates the hare to change the direction differently than it really does.. /wisecrack mode

Yes, Brown hare has white tail underneath and black upperside, but mountain/arctic hare has all white tail. That's why I asked, correct if I'm wrong. I didn't see any black at Eich's painting.

Brown Hare, fumo... but little of the black back-stripe, if any, would be visible from this angle. We do get the Mountain/Arctic Hare (in Scotland) but, as you know, it's smaller than the Brown and with noticeably smaller ears in proportion; our Mountain Hares only moult back to a white coat in Winter and (as you said) do not have the black back-stripe at any time. Our Brown Hares are probably the same race as Catfish's German ones.

@ Jim... thanks I'm doing some more work on the Mustang today, so I'll post next when it's finished.

As usual, your paintings are excellent Eichhörnchen.
I remember painting / drawing album covers in Grade and High School with an Ink quill and a bottle of ink which didn't allow for any mistakes. I don't know why I used an outdated Ink quill other than I liked how precise the drawn lines were and with care, I could make my drawings look just like the cover. I used to do that to relax sometimes.
