It will be something like this:

C:\Special Games\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Submarine\NSS_Balao\NSS_Balao.sim

Once you get down to the game, any installation should be the same. The 'Special Games' folder is one I created; most do not make a default install, as it usually causes problems with Windows not permitting changing of files in the Programs folder.

I can't give you specific advice, since I'm not clear on what you did.

In general, when you have a persistent CTD problem:
    1. Disable potential trouble-causing mods.
    2. Try to fix individual files that might be 'broken' manually.
    3. Re-install game.
Most who mod their game make back-ups or individual files and/or the whole Data folder, in case problems arise. Also they will usually put the changes they desire to have into a small mod of their own, rather than a large meg-mod they're using, or the base game. If you didn't take any of these precautions, you are probably looking at a reinstall situation.

Maybe someone else has a better idea.
