Default new zones for the Jyunsen B

I added :

a zone 66 aft of the tower, where the triple AA could be located,

a sphere and a box type=64 for the JB tub AA on the tower.

added spheres to the tower of the JB for the hangar and observation deck

added box 192=AttackCenter attack center for the obs deck of the tower.

added box 179=HangarDeck for the hangar of the JB.

added shpere and box type=52 (radar) on the hangar.

my JB had two AAs : one in the tub one on deck aft of the tub :

I surfaced...

something went BOOOM in my tub !!!

guess it was my AA....

Webster : one should never surface in your torpedo test mission !!!!

I had to ditch the hull new zon file for now but the tower's is ok.

with stock zones.cfg : engines destroyed at 95 % after 5-6 attacks, not bad !!!

It's a matter of # of attacks and not precision/entity ? Just # of attacks ?

I want to get the Jyunsen B new damage model ready for the campaign, as it was the sub that we originally planned to use, the others came later.

I have so far redone (place and size) the spheres for the Jyunsen B, and saved a copy of it, now I will re-do the boxes, then save that version, then do one with new damage boxes, and save that version, and see if they all work with no CTD with the 3.9 version of the Jyunsen B mod.

I sincerely hope so !

now we have collision spheres that exactly follow the ship's hull, then we should have boxes that do the same.

I still don't know why the engines are so easily destroyed and neither do I have a way to fix it (for now I hope)

@Regio sommergibile : I don't know, I watched the dc as they fell and exploded around the sub, the worst damage was done by those two dc that drop off the stern of the DD, when they are accurate i.e. hit the ship, they wreak havoc ! I still think that the engines are too weakly protected, I had to make a bigger box for the engine room to fit the sub, but that makes it a bigger target ! so we might have to find a way to tweak the armor on the engines..

Default New I-Boat Damage Mod no CTD !

IBDM v 1.0

6th attack...

I increased the number of spheres from 52 to 70 to fit the Jyunsen B like a glove, I then moved to the damage boxes and set them according to the 3D model I had made earlier from the JB blueprints.

No boxes were added, just moved and resized.

The tower has been done as well, there are now collision spheres on both scopes heads and the scope and the snorkel now have damage boxes too.

If you look here above, after one DC attack, both scopes are destroyed, the propeller shaft and bold launcher are damaged.

so is the dive plane transmission, erm ? destroyed ? what does that mean ??

I love it, especially without the CTD that plagued my earlier version

now to fine tuning, only the Jyunsen B, our workhorse, is done so far, others to follow.

At some point we might need a few testers, pm me or Peabody if you are interrested.

Default Type C2 Submarine (I-47 CLASS)

The next sub in line for the campaign is the :

Type C2 Submarine (I-47 CLASS)

in 3DS :

Units3 (one survived)
Ships I-46, I-47, I-48

Year(s) Completed 1943-1944

Displacement 2,557 tons / 3,564 tons

Dimensions 358.5 ft x 29.75 ft x 17.5 ft

Machinery2 diesels: 12,400 hp electric motors: 2,000 hp

Speed 23.5 knots / 8 knots

Range 14,000 nm @ 16 knots

Armament 8x533mm TT fwd + 1x14cm/50 cal. (20 torpedoes).

Max. Depth 100 m (330 feet)

Crew 101 officers and men

The Type C2 was nearly identical to the Type C1. The biggest difference was that the Type C2 lacked fittings for carrying midget submarines. Seven further units of this type were canceled in 1942-1943 before construction began.
I-46 was sunk by destroyers USS Helm and USS Gridley off Leyte on 28 October 1944. Three American destroyer escorts put an end to I-48 near Yap on 23 January 1945. I-47 survived the war, and was scuttled off Goto Island in 1946.
http://www.combinedfleet.com/type_c2.htm

The ship I am building will thus be available covering the availability dates of both the C1 and C2 types.

all ahead on third !

Man the kaitens !

from the stern :

New course 180 !

now the model needs some more work :

a few holes to plug, the darn inside texture of the tower has flipped again, the aft tubes have to be brought forward, the zones have to be remade and updated etc... the AAs need to be moved as does the DG..

some of the crew have disappeared ? awol again ?!

but it's looking good for the I-47

yeah ! so does the Sen Toku btw. look at the bow : 2 tubes just above the waterline...

The I-47 seen here above is a C2, nearly identical to the C1, so we might make it available throughout the war, or make a C1, I don't know yet.

then we'll have to add a couple dummy tubes on deck for those Kaitens so they don't show inside the sub, if that can be done that is..

[edit] just changed the stern tubes to positive values (Peabody's idea for the Class T), now all 8 fire forward !
