I-47

that's how they were set up : two groups of two on either side of the bow, the upper 2 just above the waterline is all.

Default Uilithi Atoll

8 tubes, all firing forward !

Not Uilithi Atoll Webster's torpedo test mission but close enough for now, took a pounding with the new C2 testing its new zones , they work, they just need tweaking a tiny little bit

spheres added on Kaitens, now they get hit but do they get destroyed ??? beware !

Default 8 tubes

everytime I try to rename the whole mod, based on the Kaidai3b, to NSS_C2 etc.. it CTD when I do the campaign, although it's just changind all "kaidai3B" occurences into "C2".

I don't get it...

but here are the 8 fore tube I moved the stern tubes to the bow torpedo room in the upcge.

I now need someone to help me create a new torpedo room in the upcge etc..., bow torpedo room # 2, then I'll set 4 tubes in each and give each its own damage model.

Keltos01 - especially for you:

May be my english not good - "27 September 1943:
At Truk. LtCdr Kobayashi Shigeo (former CO of I-171) assumes command. (Kobayashi helped to adapt the IJN's 24-inch Type 93 "Long Lance" torpedo to the 21-inch Type 95 torpedo used by submarines.) "

I unknow what is it, but apparantly sub was modified to 610mm torpedoes instead 533mm. But I unsure... I have not copy patrol reports from I-19, but it very interesting...

It's "I-19" before last war patrol. 17 oktober 1943 submarine start last war patrol and sunk. From 14 september to 27 september submarine was in floating dock in Truk. Last war patrol was in Hawaii area.

Default C1/C2 class submarines

The Cruiser submarine Type-C (巡潜丙型 ,Junsen Hei-gata)

C1 :
Units
5 (none survived)
Ships
I-16, I-18, I-20, I-22, I-24
Year(s) Completed
1940-1941
Displacement
2,554 tons / 3,561 tons
Dimensions
358.5 ft x 30 ft x 17.5 ft
Machinery
2 diesels: 12,400 hp electric motors: 2,000 hp
Speed
23.5 knots / 8 knots
Range
14,000 nm @ 16 knots
Armament
8x533mm TT fwd + 1x14cm/50 cal. (20 torpedoes).
Max. Depth
100 m (330 feet)
Crew
101 officers and men

The C1 design was developed from the Type KD6. These carried no aircraft, but they did have fittings for carrying a midget submarine aft. This was later modified to accommodate a 46-foot daihatsu barge. Their eight torpedo tubes were all forward and were served via two separate torpedo rooms, one above the other.

These five boats carried the five midget submarines that were deployed to assist the attack on Pearl Harbor. All of the midgets were lost, and only one actually entered the harbor. It fired its two torpedoes at a seaplane tender and a destroyer, but hit neither, and was promptly sunk by the destroyer.

On 30 May 1942, I-16 and I-20 launched midgets outside the British naval base at Diego Suarez, Madegascar. A third midget, from I-18, failed to launch. The midget from I-20 damaged battleship HMS Ramillies with one of his torpedoes and sank a tanker with the other. Neither midget survived, although the crew of the midget from I-20 made it ashore, only to be shot and killed by British soldiers.

An attack on Sydney Harbor the very next evening achieved nothing, and the five midgets employed, including those from I-22 and I-24, were all lost. I-16, I-20, and I-24 were used to launch midgets off Guadalcanal on 7 November 1942, when the midget from I-20 damaged a transport, but again none of the midgets survived the attack. None of the C1 Type survived the war. Famed destroyer escort USS England sank I-16 northeast of the Solomons on 19 May 1944. I-18 was lost to destroyer USS Fletcher and an aircraft from cruiser USS Helena south of the Solomons on 11 February 1943. I-20 was an operational loss in the New Hebrides on 10 October 1943, while I-22 was lost operationally in the Solomons on 1 October, 1942. Patrol Craft PC-487 sank I-24 off Attu in the Aleutians 11 June, 1943.

The Type C2 was nearly identical to the Type C1. The biggest difference was that the Type C2 lacked fittings for carrying midget submarines. Seven further units of this type were canceled in 1942-1943 before construction began.

C2 :
Units
3 (one survived)
Ships
I-46, I-47, I-48
Year(s) Completed
1943-1944
Displacement
2,557 tons / 3,564 tons
Dimensions
358.5 ft x 29.75 ft x 17.5 ft
Machinery
2 diesels: 12,400 hp electric motors: 2,000 hp
Speed
23.5 knots / 8 knots
Range
14,000 nm @ 16 knots
Armament
8x533mm TT fwd + 1x14cm/50 cal. (20 torpedoes).
Max. Depth
100 m (330 feet)
Crew
101 officers and men

I-46 was sunk by destroyers USS Helm and USS Gridley off Leyte on 28 October 1944. Three American destroyer escorts put an end to I-48 near Yap on 23 January 1945. I-47 survived the war, and was scuttled off Goto Island in 1946.

so given the similarities, there will be only one class of sub in the mod : the C1/C2, if you start before 1943 then it's a C1, if later, it's a C2. we could of course clone it to have both, but the characteristics are so similar that it would be a waste of space.

more intel on the ships they sank (and quite afew at that !):

Default while waiting for the campaign.. ;)

IJN Type C2 submarine stand alone :

Jyunsen_C2 stand alone :

still some issues :
torpedo doors
DG needs moving down a bit
AAs and crew need moving
no type 22 drum radar
torpedo load needs refining

but it works !

now I'll try to add another tube or two for the Kaiten only, game allowing that is !

download :

http://files.filefront.com/IJN+type+.../fileinfo.html

enjoy untill the campaign comes out !

Default C2 damage model

I moved the spheres and boxes, didn't change the upcge armor values though, one attack :

all destroyed d.. ??????

will revert to stock and see what...

edit:

stock, two dc attacks... better but...

edit : collisionnable object armor was still set to 10.0... fleet boats are 25.0... set it to 30. we'll see now
