John Bercow investigation blocked by MP standards committee.

An investigation into allegations of bullying by Commons Speaker John Bercow has been voted against by a committee of MPs.

The standards committee voted by three to two that Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Kathryn Stone should not hold the investigation.

Neil Hamilton has been ousted as UKIP group leader in the Welsh Assembly.

The former Conservative MP has been replaced by Caroline Jones.

Commons Speaker John Bercow has acknowledged that "strong and differing views were expressed" in the House of Commons, after claims he called a cabinet minister "a stupid woman".

The Daily Telegraph reported he made the comments about Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom under his breath.

UKIP has no future and should fold if the right Brexit deal is done, the party's former leader in Wales has said.

MEP Nathan Gill said the party "could have been amazing" in Wales but had achieved nothing - due to internal rows.

Mr Gill, who quit the assembly after infighting, said if Brexit was done properly UKIP would be "dead".

Ken Livingstone has said he is resigning from the Labour Party.

The ex-London mayor has been suspended since 2016 in a row over allegations of anti-Semitism following comments he made about Hitler and Zionism.

Mr Livingstone said he did not accept he was guilty of anti-Semitism or bringing Labour into disrepute but his case had become a "distraction" for the party and its political ambitions.

Jeremy Corbyn said it was a sad moment but it was the "right thing to do".

Commons Speaker John Bercow has said he "respects all his colleagues" after admitting using the word "stupid" during Commons exchanges.

He said he used the word, reported to have been directed at Commons leader Andrea Leadsom, as a "muttered aside".
