Surely Corbyn isn't going to betray the principles he's stuck steadfastly to for most of his political life?
The Monument movement as far as I can see now control the Labour party and old JC is there puppet. Labour are in denial and how many behind closed doors are with Monument who knows.

SHUT UP TEFLON TONY!

If you want back in politics I suggest you stand for a MP and stop mouthing off on the side line thinking you are still in Parliament.

Any form of customs union with the EU after Brexit would be a "complete sellout" for the UK, International Trade Secretary Liam Fox has said.
Quote:
Sir Martin Donnelly, who was permanent secretary in the Department for International Trade until last year, said any deals done after Brexit would not compensate for leaving the single market and the customs union.

Giving up access to the EU market and its existing trade agreements was "rather like rejecting a three course meal now in favour of the promise of a packet of crisps later", he said.
Quote:
And Mr Fox hit back at Sir Martin as he took questions after his speech, saying it was "unsurprising that those who spend a lifetime working in the European Union see moving away from the European Union as being threatening".

He added: "The UK Brexit process is, as we've all discovered, a little more complex than a packet of Walkers."

The toys are definitely being thrown out of the pram now.

I really don't see many Tory rebels opposing the whip for fear of letting Corbyn form a new government and potentially losing their seats in the process.

An EU proposal for the Northern Ireland border threatens the "constitutional integrity" of the United Kingdom, Theresa May has said.

The EU's draft legal agreement proposes a "common regulatory area" after Brexit on the island of Ireland - in effect keeping Northern Ireland in a customs union - if no other solution is found.

Mrs May said "no UK prime minister could ever agree" to this.

That's another step closer to simply walking away.

So how does Mrs May think North Ireland will be able to keep an open border (and peace..), without having a customs union of any kind.
When it threatens the "constitutional integrity of the UK" maybe just leaving the latter might be in order?

I've read that the UK has suggested new IT systems could be introduced to avoid the need for physical border checks but as yet, there is scant detail about this.

May is meeting with Tusk on Friday so no doubt he will have all the answers....j/k
