There is danger in the current moment. It comes not from horn-helmeted idiots and racist scumbags who paraded through the Capitol Building for an hour, but from those who wish to turn that despicable incident into the founding myth of a new era of woke authoritarianism. The business and political elites, determined to crush the populist experiment of recent years, will busily launch wars on ‘domestic terrorism’, clamp down on inflammatory speech, purge from the internet and from workplaces anyone with ‘incorrect’ thoughts, and blacklist those who believe populism is preferable to technocracy. They’re already doing it. The Biden administration isn’t even in power yet and this is already happening. Imagine how emboldened the new oligarchies and their woke mobs will become once Biden and Co are ruling. Brace yourselves; the purge is only beginning.

Twitter banning Trump was bound to happen. According to their stats, something like 80% of active Twitter users identify as "liberals" and as is becoming increasingly clear, most people have no interest in free speech, they just want to hear from people who agree with them and share their world view.

Twitter banning Trump is also meaningless since as I predicted last year, he will just move to another site like Parler which is where most conservatives are moving to anyway.

There is also buzz that he may create his own social media site, although the real question is how many of his voters/followers will tag along as he pivots from POTUS to just another media talking head.

A California resident attacked California GOP congressional candidate Rudy Peters with a switchblade. Witnesses said the assailant was spewing profanity-laced remarks about Trump and the Republican Party.

A Republican Party office in Laramie, Wyoming caught fire — in what officials suspect was arson — just days after it opened.

"I am coming with a gun and i expect to get numerous bloodstained MAGA hats as trophies," the unnamed Twitter account holder tweeted.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough used the 17th anniversary of 9/11 to declare President Trump a bigger threat to America than terrorists who killed 2,977 on that day — to say nothing of the hundreds who died later from 9/11-related cancers.

Well yeah, and no. All that pretty much hinges on there being a true corporate state and I'm not convinced we are there yet. The people with the confederate flags are looking to create a fascist state whether they realize it, or not while BLM is pushing for a socialist state whether they realize it , or not, and I don't want either.

We need to find a middle ground that is colorblind, prevents businesses from becoming all powerful while promoting business, and accepts there is a need for some services to be socialized.

I don't know how we can get there when so many of us are too self serving and focused on hate. Perhaps a start would be eliminating the idea that a business, or union, is "person", curbing offshoring and breaking up up superpacs.

In fact lots and lots of people have been (temporarily) banned for relatively harmless tweets compared to the hate speech and lies twittered by Trump. He was given a fat celebrity bonus and he exhausted it to the limits.

Nonsense: OAN, Newsmax, MeWe, Parler, Telegram are the places where the Trumpists gather and radicalize at the moment. Take a roundtrip and prepare to be disgusted.

9/11 wasn't that long ago and the resulting War On Terror saw a massive overreach by US intellegence agencies on the lives of Americans. Twitter didn't exist then. One has to wonder that if it had the kind of power it does today would they have been complicit in the actions of Federal government.

Like all companies that are involved in processing personal data (all tech companies are) Twitter & Co are duty bound to collaborate with the NSA. But the Patriot Act is a terrible fault in the US legislation, it's not the companies' problem and I'm not sure if it's predominantly the liberals that support this regulation. Take WikiLeaks for reference.

The government is kept in check by the Constitution. Because Twitter and Facebook are private entities they are completely unchecked. You guys ok with that?

Media companies are "checked" by market share and profitability. The more lies they tell the less people will believe it. We must not forget that the majority still is guided by common sense (This is why Biden won the election). Sure there are extremists on both sides who want to believe any crap spoon-fed to them. And those will always find "their" paper, TV-network, radio station, messenger, internet news site. So what?

Bam. That's it. 90% of the populace has become so polarized, each by the other side, that I don't see how this is going to settle down. It might, it probably will, but something has to change. I hate traffic light camera's with a passion ... they can target the car ahead of you or the one behind you and yet you are the one that gets the ticket in the mail.

You have to pay a fine or take off from work and explain that it wasn't your car which is very hard to prove unless you have a lawyer.

Time and money expended all for nothing ... so I protest and complain on twitter till I have a faithful following that wishes to storm city hall with our complaints.

The cry gets so loud that twitter and FB suspend my accounts due to inciting a riot.

Free speech hindered/squashed and nothing we can do about it
