Default Insert commando

Hey Beery,

Great thread, thanks! I am doing the insert commando mission. I dropped them off not 50m from shore, but they just paddle around in the sea, and never seem to land. The mission does not show accomplished. Do I need to sail away or something?

thanks

mgm

I'm only completing patrols when within 60nm of the symbol.

I placed a compass circle at 90nm and stayed within it for 3 days. Incomplete still. Lowered it to 60nm circle and I finished it quickly.

Just a heads up.

Are you perhaps playing the metric version of the game? I'm thinking that there could be a bug where it reads the 100 as either imperial (miles) or metric (kilometres) depending on which version you're playing.

Could you be dropping them off too close? When I've dropped them off they always stop paddling well before they reach the shore and paddle back out to sea again. If you're dropping them off beyond the point where they turn around the game might not recognise that they've been launched at all.

Usually you just have to launch the boat and the mission completes instantly.

I'm using Imperial so perhaps it's 100km or 60nm... sounds about right.

Well it's definitely 100nm on my computer - I've tested it.

I'll try it again on my second patrol.

About photo recon missions:
If the mission is to recon a specific target "e.g. carrier task force", then you can only take pictures of specific targets (in this case, carrier class ships). If you try to lock on to another type of ship to take a picture, it will not work.

Question about insertion missions:
Is it possible to recover the launch boat? In the missions I did (supply run) the dinghy tried to return to my sub but kept colliding with it until it capsized. Has anyone been able to get them back aboard or are they doomed to paddle around?

As far as I can tell they're doomed to paddle around.

Tested again last night.

I placed a 90nm circle around the patrol area. I entered the circle between 0500-0600 Dec. 25th and stayed within it while patrolling. I kept checking my clipboard on the 27th after 0600. Nothing.

I lowered the circle to 60nm and stayed inside it. Mission complete within hours.:hmm:

Default photo mission

Humm,

I was going to ask a rather stupid question....
Don't have to now, I have been enlightened.

Many thanks for the mission data, I was cluless on a lot of it.

Was sent on a photo recon mission in Tokyo Bay, when I got there only 2 patrol boats docked, no camera lit up when locking periscope. Then I noticed a large tanker sailing towards me locked on with periscope took picture mission complete.
