Any number of files other than showing as "Same" should cause you to look through the list to see what has changed. If its something as simple as the New: SI.bin file......you're fine. It's made when you start the game for the first time. The New: SH4Img.... are images you took during play, your fine there too.

Just look out for files coming back as "Different" or "Removed".....could be a corruption issue (although there are a couple of German flags "Removed" from the "Data\Textures\TNormal\tex" file for some reason with the use of some mods?? Why.... who knows??? not really a big deal either).

Thanks for the info, Capt. I just learned something new.

On another note, I'm gonna see if I can get the ME to work on my computer again. All this talk of RR's Convoy From Hell talk has got me wanting me try and create some new single missions. I used to be pretty good at it. First thing though is getting the ME to run under Win 10. So that's my task for tonight, I think.

And I'm doing something stupid that prevents missions I create from appearing in the game. I've compared existing missions with the one I created and I'm just going blind and out of time. I'll hit it again tomorrow night.

When you set it up to make it ready for use with the JSGME I think you added one two many extra folders. I had the same problem the first time that I tried installing it. But I figured it out.

I haven't taken the time to reduce the size of the image, but I have similar behavior with the convoy as cdsumron7, where all the passenger type ships are definitely trying to confuse all the other ships, turning on a dime to port. When starting the scenario for like the third time, I immediately dove to like 260 in order to be at least 40 foot below the thermal layer (water must be warmed DEEP off the California coast). I turned and approached the convoy at that depth at Ahead 1/3, and initiated "Silent Running", and by the time I was getting to about a nautical mile from them, maybe two, they were getting bunched and scattered, and bunched and scattered, going willy-nilly, like there were three convoys mixed together, each with their own waypoints. So I went ahead and came up to periscope depth and started having some fun... Smoke everywhere and ship parts flying. Some held up well and took a while to sink, some sank like a rock with one hit. One of the passenger liners broke in two with only one hit. I used XTBilliy's "mix" 50-20, and one of the poor destroyers took two hits broadside from 2600, and was gone. Maybe they didn't see them coming, or maybe he moved too slow... Either way, while they would shoot at me (the remaining "war" ships, and they would follow me around like puppy dogs, no one ever dropped any cans, and never hit me with their gunshots while I was submerged. The merchies had better gunners when I finally came topside - ran out of torps...

I like the look of v1.3 and v2.0, but some aspects of both are very frustrating. I've had CTD's in both of them, and for something that I for some reason cannot consistently get to repeat. Version 2 involves use of the minesweeper. Audio is also an issue in them both. Our "mix" right now does similar, but no audio issues and no CTD's as of yet. I'm going to go back and re-read the "readme" for v1.3 and 2.0 and look for some clues. Maybe noodle and mess with some the sound files too...

Edit: added link
I'm still quite a-ways away here

Photobucket is being a #$@!bucket tonight, and I have no idea how big or little this is on this page, and I don't even know if I created the link correctly.

Remember to name your SingleMission folder the same name as whatever you're calling the .mis file. "Convoy from Hell" folder contains "Convoy from Hell.mis" file.

Thank you. Also my submarine had a time stamp, but no time stamps for group or waypoint on the convoy. I have to check out the original Convoy from Hell to see if I made a rookie mistake constituting the convoy.

It's not like the sh4MissionEditor is well documented!

If it still comes to the unusual behavior of the cargo ships from FORTS in convoy.

I seem to remember that some freighters have been equipped by Maddy with hydrophones ... perhaps he has even equipped with additional sensors and/or properties.
This would explain why some civilian ships from FORTS suddenly behave like warships ... they try the submarine hunt quasi.

Yes, that's why I'm doing my research in a completely stock game, to eliminate any FOTRS or TMO changes to assess convoy behavior. But first I have to crack the puzzle of what the addled remains of my brain is doing to my Mission Editor work. Somehow I'm forgetting something simple......

And yes, Convoy from Hell has a couple of TMO ships in it so it was definitely assembled while running TMO, probably 1.8 or 1.9.

I did something with my Single Mission that I made for testing the sinking times, in that no matter what I do now when editing it, I always end up with a Porpoise boat. I've edited & re-edited probably 2 dozen times, and still I'm missing something... Sixty years worth of brain short-circuits all conspiring at one time to mess with me... That's my story, and I'm sticking to it...

I did your Convoy in my GFO+ install, and got some interesting results with the weather:

I'm going to have to do different links, I guess... these take too long to load. Maybe I did the links wrong... Anyway, if you want to "navigate" the minefield that fotobukitt is these days, there's two "albums" in there now with a few grabs. I still can't get a decent video. I'm beginning to think that my dual-core from back when can't handle what I'm trying to do here...

Edit (again): My XP macine with Firefox browser CANNOT do proper img links - why? I'm editting the post on a Nook tablet, of all things, & doing much better, thank you...

If you follow the pics to fotobukkitt, there's comments there.

In the ME if you right-click on the US Sub (you have to highlight the sub first), on the pop-up screen that comes up click on Properties. In order to get the correct class of sub you have to input the correct date for the single mission. I had to remember that myself this morning when playing in the ME for awhile. I'm at work right now, after I get home from work tonight I'll post a screenie of what I'm referring to.

Thanks, but been there, done that ad infinitum, ad nauseum... I've tried other boats, reconfigured all the dates on everything, checked & double-checked. I even tried putting a sugar boat in, and got a porpoise. I trashed something, so probably - to preserve what's left of my sanity - I'd be best off to build a new mission.

Propbeanie, the weather shouldn't trouble you. That's normal (fog) on some missions, depending on the mod you've enabled.. I bet that in another mod you'll see no fog. You're getting better with screenshots though!

No worries mate. My forty six years of brain-short circuits are conspiring on me too... More than once... After my main computer died, I'm using the wife's one-core Athlon laptop, with 2 GB of memory and Win10. SH4 runs fine, much better than expected, with most of the graphics turned down of course, but runs fine. Thanks UBISOFT for this. Never regretted buying this game...

I'm in the FOTRS Ultimate campaign now, using my 50-10 mix, I've encountered a convoy in the East China Sea, 6 merchants with 2 escorts. Saved, reloaded several times, the convoy does not scatter. Repeat, the convoy keeps formation correctly.

I'm provoking the escorts now to test their dragster abilities.

If you can post a screenie of the sub properties that I can look at. Maybe between the two us we can solve your dilemma.

That's what I'm getting at, in that the vidz that RR has online, and in my "stock" and FotRS v1.3 SH4v1.5 (post above), looks like RR's vid. In my GFO+, which the "plus" stands for the #1 Environment, there's fog. Nothing else is different. Basically just a different "environment".

I don't have the mission anymore. I deleted the beast. I'd done several boats for several different years/months, and the missions all did the same, giving me a Porpoise boat when loaded in SH4. If I looked at the mission in the ME, it looked fine. All properties on all ships & boat(s) matched, and they matched the mission date / time parameters. When I loaded it into SH4 and looked at the Quick Mission menu, to the right of the title, that particular mission always showed "Porpoise", and I always got a Porpoise boat. Edit: I'm forgetting to mention that the mission did work fine when I first created it.

No big deal really. I just made a whole new mission, same ships and boats, and the sub comes up with whatever I put in. Strange though. The "trashing" probably happened when I got my versions of SH4 mixed up. I loaded a version of the mission into FotRS vUltimate in SH4 v1.5 that had been created using FotRS v2.0 in SH4 v1.4. Very few things in SH4 v1.5 worked very well after that, and I re-did all my SH4 installs, but I tried to save the mission file, and shouldn't have...
