Jim did you see it?

It was so funny..

Some bloke got close to Mrs May trying to hand her a P45.

And now the silly women has fluffed her speech coughing up.

What a weak washout speech.

Just popped in to post this.

Theresa May says sorry to Conservative conference for election.

Quote:
Theresa May has apologised to Conservative Party members for not securing the victory they hoped for in June's general election.
As she closes the party's conference, she said the campaign had been "too scripted, too presidential".
"I hold my hands up for that. I take responsibility. I led the campaign and I am sorry," she said.

Looks like we were both posting at the same time but no, I missed it but will no doubt catch up on the one o'clock news.

EDIT: Here it is, the bloody fool.

Joking aside now the speech is over what poor security allowing that prankster get near her.

As for her on and off and on coughing fits why didn't she just take a moderate pause instead of trying to plow on, it just was plain silly.

So the speech itself was poor nothing in it to give me any faith in her or her government and more money for the right to buy ponzi scheme oh dear me.

Clearly this is the sign Mrs May is not going to be the one to take the Tories into the next election.

Even those attended the conference summed it up..Dull.

Oh and finally old BoJo will never take charge as he drops another clanger in the works.

So to sum up the big three party's are all in trouble and offer nothing but the same old rubbish. We really are in deep mud oh heck.

And now I am taking a break.

Libya is a wonderful tourist region, if they only stow away the corpses (Boris Johnson)
But the best scene was when this letter fell from the wall.

May's speech, a country where everyone who works hard has the same chance? England?
This is the american dream. Not that of a class society, where the people's education and origin is being measured by their accent, with king and queen, with a house of commons and a house of "lords".
Who do they think they are kidding?

That was beautiful.

If someone had written all that for a political satire they'd have had it rejected for being too ridiculous.

I wouldn't count Boris out of the race just yet though, because...honestly, right now, there doesn't appear to be anyone else making a move. The Moog might, but I doubt it.

ATM the job is seen as the poison chalice. Better to sit back and wait whilst May attempts to do the nigh on impossible and carry the blame if and when things go wrong.

That is the one thing I admire about her, she is willing to make the effort whilst others take the easy route and simply sit back. Reminds me of vultures circling overhead whilst a wounded animal suffers on the ground below.

An Australian take on the last year in UK politics:

On UK defence matters:

That's the Navy cannibalising itself, then.

No point telling me what I already know, I came to that conclusion weeks ago.

It's getting pretty hard to detect when he's in backstabbing mode.

Well, that's simply another step toward walking away altogether.

This coming from the man who had to be made to stand up by Rudd at the conference!

More defence matters from the "Save the Royal Navy" site:

http://www.savetheroyalnavy.org/furt...he-royal-navy/

One thing I did find interesting was the little tid bit that back in 2010 Osbourne dumped the financing responsibility for the Trident replacement programme directly in to the MoD Budget rather than what it had been before - part of the Treasury's.

Going back to politics, here's an article from Scottish MSP Murdo Fraser (Ruth Davidson's rival during the last SCon leadership contest):

Liberal Unionism – a model for Scottish Conservatives?

Quote:
In comments which would be considered extraordinary were they to be made today by someone sitting on the Conservative benches of the House of Commons, the Scottish Unionist MP (and celebrated author), John Buchan, declared in 1932: “Every Scotsman should be a Scottish Nationalist”.
Amongst Scottish Unionists of the time, Buchan was by no means alone in promoting Scottish identity, and championing the notion of a Scottish Parliament within the United Kingdom.
Although that never became the official Party position, throughout much of the 20th Century there was not the stark dividing line between nationalism and unionism that we see today.Indeed, at the Paisley By-election of 1948, the Unionists agreed not to field an official candidate but instead to support the Independent Nationalist, John MacCormick, against Labour.
What the writer David Torrance describes as “nationalist unionism” was at the core of the Scottish Unionists’ broad appeal.
As I believe I've written before, the SUP was the SNP of it's day but was pro- rather than anti-UK.

I wonder how the Tory rank and file in England would react when it finally penetrates their skulls that Scottish Tories aren't exactly the same as English ones? SCons are primarily Unionists and Conservatives second, after all.

Mike.
