This is really a great read. I wonder if Sir Frank Whittle and Dr. Hans von Ohain were paying attention when Henry Marie Coandă was testing his aircraft.
https://www.thoughtco.com/history-of...engine-4067905 Dr. Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle are from Germany and England, respectively and credited with developing and creating the first modern jet engines. Ohain was ahead of Whittle in development as Whittle faced budgetary constraints in England It's amazing when you consider that Orville and Wilbur Wright's first test of an aircraft took place on December 17, 1903, four miles south at Kitty Hawk. Coandă, a few short years later developed the world’s first jet plane in 1910. Great stuff. Thanks for posting the thread Eichhörnchen. Last edited by Commander Wallace; 05-25-17 at 07:02 PM. |
