Icon9 Ahnenerbe WideGui & Font Size

Hello all,

So, I took a break from the game and have been returning to it recently. I decided to do a little more digging into a solution to run the game at 1920x1080. I came across Ahnenerbe's WideGui for 1920x1080, and aside from disliking a few of the GUI changes I really enjoy it.

My main problem is I don't sit three inches from my monitor and have trouble reading A LOT of the text. Everything is waaay too small.

I know re-scaling the GUI is impossible without a massive effort, but I was wondering if font size/types are stored somewhere and could perhaps be edited to be larger. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, and good hunting.

Hi PETC
The LSH3-2015 mega mod default resolution is 1920 x 1080.
Ahnenerbe's Wide Screen Mod can be added as an option to the other GUI mods supplied.
All the information is in my tutorials.
Incidentally, I am waiting for a cataract operation, end of January, and currently use reading glasses on a 28" monitor 40cm away.
Occasionally I have to get the magnifying glass out.

Hey there. I'll give it a shot.

Trying to download the 1-large file now but the download speed is really slow. I've got a 100 MBPS connection which is testing at 105 down/30 up and I'm being capped at around 350 KB/s which will almost certainly take me over the server's 60 minute download limit.

Edit: Found a way around it. It seems there's a server-wide 350 kb/s download limit on any file. However, that's not a per-IP bandwidth limit, so downloading all 9 parts simultaneously at 350 kb/s each gives me an equivalent download speed of 3 MB/s which is much more do-able.

Well. Tried it. Followed all the instructions. Game ran, but would crash every time I tried to load a new career's first patrol.

Ran all of the stated applications as administrator and ran them in WinXP compatibility mode, ran the game from SH3Commander, and I tried to run Naval Academy first as stated. Still crashed every time.

Windows 7 64-Bit
Intel i5 6600K (stock clock)
GTX 950
16 GB RAM
SSD, plenty of free space.

Maybe I'll try again some other day, but for now I've run out of ideas.

Hi PETC
That is unfortunate.
I am running Windows 10 in compatibility mode OS7 with over 70 saved games and no crashes.
Did you check the byte sizes of the files you downloaded to make sure there were no downloading corruptions to the files?
The game is extremely stable.

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure all the files are fine. Not sure what's going on there.

Default 4Gb patch?

Not being familiar with LSH, I'm not sure that this is a relevant question, but have you applied the 4Gb patch? Are you on a desk top or laptop (GTX950 or 950M and DDR3 or DDR5)?
Also, Nvidia cards are a bit finicky about SH3. This is an old post, but the settings are still relevant.

Hi ods
The 4gb patch is automatically installed in LSH3-2015
LSH3-2015 can be a bit temper mental regarding gpu settings.

Hi PETC
When you first started the game and went to the Naval Academy to set up your V15 save game folder did you only have the 2 mods enabled.
Did you select one of the Naval Academy Tutorials.
Did the Tutorial load ok without crashing?

Hey guys. Thanks for your ideas.

I decided to try my retail copy instead of my Steam copy and re-started the process. Did everything the same and this time the Naval Academy actually loaded me into a boat. So now I'm going to try and start my career.

Took forever but I think it's finally fixed! Also, Really like the interface/sizes of everything!

Cheers,

PETC

Edit: Originally the Naval Academy tutorial would not load at all. I did only have the two mods set as active.

Now the Naval Academy tutorial WILL load, I still only have two mods active, but now whenever I go to load my first patrol the game acts like its loading, gets to the end and hangs indefinitely... been waiting a good 15 minutes now with nothing happening.

Hi PETC
Glad you got sorted.
My tutorials can save you a lot of time.
You did realize that STEAM was not compatible with LSH3-2015 didn't you?
Once the Naval Academy is done you can enable the rest of your mods.
The game loading time will depend on your systems capabilities.
If you are running windows 10 you will need to use OS7 compatibility.
Also run your SH3.exe > JSGME > SH3Commander all as administrators.
