What do I need to uncompress the first file (SchnellbootMods7z 001)
EDIT;Just installed 7z and was able to use it to uncompress the sucker.
EDIT2;I'm sorry to say that after several attemps ,It appears that these files are either too damaged or too corrupted to be opened with any program(tried Winrar,Winzip and 7z).So i'm just gonna stick with schnellboote v.1+1.7.Sorry to have bothered you all.

Right click on vol 001. Drag to where you want to install. Then select "extract here" from 7-Zip drop down menu.

Spike12, I had the same problem with the install files downloaded from Mediafire. The unzip worked, but then I got a message saying every single file had an error. I even looked in the newly-created "Schnellboot Mods" folder and every file was 0 KB.

Fortunately, the download from Plissken_04's FTP server (6 posts before this one) works just fine. I just finished extracting all the files.

Don't do anything to the .7z files after you download them (I tried renaming them so that WinRAR would recognize them, and this ruined the extraction process). Like Cheapskate said, just right click on the first one, "Schnellboot Mods.7z.001", go to the 7z dropdown, and click Extract Here. This will automatically extract all 7 of them into a new folder.

Finally got it put in,I have to admit that the s-boots are a real work of art.I understand that it's still a rather buggy beta 'cause from time to time the graphics go all weird and it CTDs.Now I have a few questions to ask;
1.is Mikhayl still working on this, or has he abandoned the project?
2.if he has abandoned it,is anyone-else gonna take over and fix-up s-boot v.2?
3.is Mikhayl even still alive for that matter,'cause he's not been heard from in months?
Well,that's my two cents for the day.

Getting CTDs on 2nd patrol out of Kiel ,patrolling ostsee on sept.9,1939.
Thinking about stripping s-boot v.2 down to the basics(the menu pictures&movies,the s-boots,the equipment,the flotillas and areas to patrol)and leave all the extra stuff to GWX.Just need to know which files to keep,and which to toss out.

Default Giving up on sb v2

After trying every trick I could possibly think of to fix the darn thing in an attenpt to 1.eliminate the CTDs &2.make it compatible with GWX 3.0(using SB mod v1.0 as a core file),It was just waaaay beyond my skill to repair (I'll admit,I'm no programmer)and too much of a tangle to sort through.I'm gonna stick to sb v1.0 +s_38 mod.and as for v 2.0, to Quote Boober Fraggle from the Fraggle Rock ep."Doomsday Soup";
take it away,throw the stuff out
where there's a will,there's always a doubt
I know it's not finished,but why mess about
ahhh it's probably yucky for shure !(yeeech)

As I heard it, mikayl went to SHIV.

I used the standard S-boot mod but when I needed to reinstall SHIII (don't ask!) I tried the Schnellboot_lite version. Worked out of the box. no CTDs or weird-ohs - the old version used to have ships crashing and burning on the dockside in Helgoland.

p.s. seeing as no one asked, I'll tell you. I have problems with terminal; faults, but only on SHIII (any version). The program runs perfectly well, then the sound starts sounding like a old-fashioned radio just off station. I can carry on playing but when I leave SHIII, Windows shuts the machine down giving various faults as reason. Any saves are toast!

I've been replaying the first patrol ever since October 2009 - just like ground hog day!
