Own ship detection numbers?
Hi guys,
When you have the figures for enemy sensures in CW, at what point are you detected ? Is it+10 or +20 Also is this the same figure ( taking into account all other fractures, water background, own ship selection) ?

From what I understand, the earliest detection can happen is +10 dB. Then, the enemy can hold contact on you down to 0 dB.
Yes, +10 dB is always true as this value is relative to the environment. Basically, whatever the dB of the environment, you have to be close enough to the enemy to be +10 dB louder than the environment to be detected. In noisier environments, units generally have to be closer together to detect each other.

IIRC, the numbers are percentages plus/minus for detection probability. So at a rating of 0 that means there's a 50 percent chance of detection.
At a rating of 20 there would be a 70 percent chance of detection. At a rating of -20 there would be a 30 percent chance of detection. I think. |

No, they are decibels over background noise. 10 is the detection threshold, 0 is the tracking threshold.

Is it possible to disable or hide the ownship noise to target numbers... Or randomize them so they couldnt be entirely trusted? To make it more realistic as I think they should be just estimations.

I've used it and it works great. I only wish there was a game config modification you could do to change the color of the text instead. The mod puts a text colored box around the readings so they disappear. |
