Default If the 1/72 U-boat is too big for you...

Hobbyboss has just released 1/700 scale kits of the Type VII and Type IX U-boats. Check them out at www.squadron.com

(There's also a 1/700 Akula if you prefer modern subs)

Default 1/25 Type VIIc/41

Here's another way to look at 1/72 scale that makes it appear very small indeed when placed alongside this Type VIIc/41 that "Mylo" Hall recently finished.

Some of you may have already read his build over at SubCommittee. If not, they make for great reading. Not too bad for a first time scratch built sub!

Yes, he did a very nice job & has over 900 hours of build time in this prototype display. He's building 6 kits for RC conversion & has 3 spoken for; Dave Merriman is working on a 6" low pressure ballast system with fore & aft tanks that will have the same dive characteristics of the actual boat.

Stay tuned... plans are already in the works to build a u-flotilla in 1/25 scale: Type IIa, VIIc, VIId, IXc & XXI.

Nice!
What a boat. I cant believe this tidly litle thing next to it its 1-72 scale.
If it is - the big one must be about 2.70m long by my estimate.
