Here some pictures from my first trip with a submarine. We went to the Mediterain Sea for 4 month.
In the harbour from Las Palmas: Not far from the key in Malaga: Jumping in the Atlantik when we stoped for some hours: Our "livingroom": Sitting on the deck and enjoy: Someone is near us: My job when we cruised surfaced. Being on the bridge and look out for other ships: My job when we cruised submerged. Sitting at the sonar-desk and listen to other ships, sea, nothing: Spending free time in the "livingroom": U17 in the port of Malta: View from the front to the tower: That happens if you cruise surfaced in heavy sea: Going through small waves: Next days i will scan my analog pictures and post them, if somen is interested. |

Here pictures of U17/S196 in the shipyard (Peene Werft Wolgast).
Fresh out of the water: In front of the submarine. Nice to see are the 8 doors of the torpedotubes and the port depthrudder: Fresh painting and a little bit polish to the prop: And some infos to the class 212 subs (as my loved U33/S183): My other pictures are confident, i´m sorry. Not for forums. |

And some pictures from personal transfer taken from the crew of the other ship. You see U17 in medium sea/waves at least 300miles west of gibraltar:
Here he comes... ... and knocks at the door. Our guest is on board and goes to the bridge. Small wave from backwards. Not dangerous for the sub. Going through the next wave. Subs don´t go over waves - they cut it through. Detail picture from the masts: In front the attack peri, than radiomast, snorchel with second peri inside and radar at least. That´s it. Personal transfer finished. The sub ends below the small white tube behind the tower. It´s mounted there to show the end when leaving and arriving port. |

And some pictures from inside: One half of our kitchen. You see the boiler and a part from watertank left from it. The stainless steel sink is build in a drawer to safe place. View from the middle of the living room to the kitchen (behind the fan). On the left you see two of the five beds here. The upper one can moved down and used as a couch then. The passageway goes to the operation center and than to the technical center and ends in the maschine room. The second half from the living room. 2/3 of the second table are moved down to save place. The upper bed is moved down, too - building a couch now. The fore end of the living room with view to the fore end of the pressure hull. I stood between the torpedo tubes. One of them is shown in the upper right corner. Near the tubes we stored juice, milk and cheese. Outside the fridge it was the coolest place inside the sub. Sitting in the fore right edge of the living room. Behind me you can see 3 of the torpedo tubes. The 4. is behind the orange suits. They are used in heavy seas by the bridgecrew. View between pressure hull and tube VI. The grey small tubes are bolds. We used them to show our position when submerged. They are like a signal pistol that can be used submerged. One the right side the pressure hull, left upper corner shows tube III and tube V is below. The grey boxes in the background are filter for the fansystem. You can see some ventiles for the tubes, too. Breakfast at sea. You see 4 from 5 of the petty officers of the next watch. Left behind me the chief petty officers have their "room". The room for the officers is on the left direct by the position of the cam. Cleaning the tableware after breakfast. We used a deep dish to clean it. One cleans, one drys, one store away and the last take care of the tableware - exspecialy in heavy seas. The bigger one of my storage compartments. The second one has half the size. The two red bags are for the ANA (Atemnotluftanlage/emergency breath system). Inside are diving glasses and diving regulator. The regulator can be pluged in the pressureline in the middle. Sitting in the technical center and steering the sub. In front of my the course is shown by the compas. Right of me the steeringsystem for the front depthrudders are shown. The small door left from me goes to the operation center. I´m entering the bridge in swim cloth. 2,5m below me is the operation center. The hatch is round about 80cm wide. That´s it. All pictures are scaned and posted. Last edited by Paulebaer1979; 04-14-14 at 04:46 AM. Reason: Broken image fixed |

Very nice pictures.
I did some exercises with FreeCad and got this as result from my memories: Update: Livingrooms are done. Parts of operation center are inside. Update 2: Engines, prop, shaft and technical center are inside. The first impressions of an 3D-model of an 206a submarine. If someone is interested, i will post a link to the cad-files. But the files are not exactly like blueprints. All details are made from pictures and memories. @mods: if you wish, you can cut out my posts here and build a new thread from it.
