I'm slightly optimistic now that we find a solution.

After that, I'll assemble all the Alpha-Testing Mods into V16B, including some requested changes (e.g. repairtime adjustable via .ini file and 20m diving sufficient to reload internal torpedoes in storm) as well as some small bugfixes.
Good news, H.Sie Looking forward to the new version. Will the torpedo dud rate also be adjustable?

Cheers, LGN1

@LGN1: I think so, but not 100% sure.

But changing the parameters via .ini file will not be supported by me, since I did not program any testing for illegal / bad values (e.g. division by zero) at all. I fear people fiddling around with the parameters, get a CTD and blame me for that.

Hi H.sie,

If you create an .ini file and if some people want to customize it, they would do it at their own risk. We take the same risk when we change the .cfg or .dat or .zon or ... files.

You just have to inform them.

I will never thank you enough for all your impressive work.

Best Regards,

Jean

PS
I just have bought a second SH3 (5€) to use your last "hardcode fixe" on my new W7 computer.

I agree

@h.sie

I agree with jean74.

You can declare the "supported values" and after say "tweak at your own risk"

Impossible to find unhappy people after that. . .

Stiebler's tool, for your SH3.exe moding, is a paradise for me, especially for the oxygen supply. . . and not only. . .

Thank you, one more time, for all...

You can create a very simple assembler procedure that will compare the value loaded (if it succeeds) with upper and lower limit, and then if the value is not acceptable (or unreadable), it should be load the default value. It's 3 hard coded values for each customized value and the 2-3 comparisons only.

I'll separate the .ini file into 2 sections:

1) Documented, user-configurable values (on own risk) with recommended range of values

2) Undocumented values for my internal adjustments only.

A CTD is used as a comfortable and reliable indicator for wrong values.

Hello,

I think, this is already done:

Perhaps, good news for the todo list (became shorter)...

Hi NGT,

I'm not sure whether it has been really done. Please read page 8 of the thread and look here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=104

Up to now I have not seen a single proof that the mod works as intended.

Regards, LGN1

After months away from SH3 I'm just just starting with the latest version. The possibility to lead wolfpacks to a convoy alone is incredible - great, great job! And now you're even about to solve the vampire view!

While playing in shallow waters I came across another old problem: the insane damage including instantly dead and wounded sailors when hitting the sea floor even at a very low speed. After you have managed to create realistic repair times, could there also be a way to make the sea floor less deadly?

You may have a point there. I have never experienced a slow collision with the sea floor... a fast one yes... I ordered a crash dive because of enemy plane in shallow waters.

There was a Mod by Mikhayl that addressed this years ago.
I have no idea where to find it but there's no reason to reinvent this wheel.

You are right, found it, thanks! It's here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=957

Made for GWX 2.1 orginally, I'll try it on my 3.0 installation.
