savegame issue ?

Hello all, hope your good.

I think some of you got same problem as i have now with the savegame.

For example when saving all good, i play then crash for nothing no reason just a ctd just like that...


I re start SH 3 then i see a save with this name >>> The war is over.

Strenge ....

I load my game, time to time crash to the end very rare.

I just finished a patrol like 1h00 ago.

When i finish my patrol then go in the menu, if i want to load the last save i dont see it, i see the wich from the patrol ive almost finish but not the new one like date and for example 1942 before start or at base something like that.



I removed the useless files in the savegame of sh folder, but still got the last problem.

To resolve this i have to finish my patrol, then am not going on the main menu, you see the wich you see when you start the game, i just stay where you see the table where you can manage your crew your submarine set the % of realism, then i start a new patrol and save the game...


Anyway sorry for my english am french i still a french ^^ ...


Do you have any solution please ?

Solution # 2 (which one of these things fixed this problem?):

a) In Windows Explorer, I opened the C:\GAMES folder
b) I right-clicked on the SH3 game folder and selected "Properties"
c) On the General tab, in the Attributes section, I unchecked the "Read-only" box
d) I clicked on the Advanced button, and I unchecked the Archiving option, and I unchecked the "Index this folder" option
e) I clicked OK / Apply and selected "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files"
f) I opened the "My Documents" folder and right-clicked/Properties on the SH3 folder there and repeated Steps c, d, and e again
g) I launched JSGME (v2.2.0.120) and I removed the following Mods: "LifeBoats&Debris_v4", "Torpedo damage Final", and "GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects"
h) I launched SH3 again, and my "bad" Save Games loaded successfully!
i) I ran JSGME again and added those Mods back again
j) My "bad" SH3 Save Games still loaded successfully
k) I saved and loaded new Save Games, underwater, in the middle of that heated battle successfully!

This is a common issue that is easily dealt with. You need to go into you career folder in my documents and change 2 lines of text in careers_0.cfg file. Scroll down to the latest patrol and change these 2 lines of text to:
finished=false
warover=false.
Its dealt with in more detail in the GWX manual. You need to change them from true to false. Job done.

hello yeah but i dont understand what change i have to do ^^

do you think its better to use sh3 commander about the savegame problem ?

the game crash well like always...

i re start the game want to load my save but no more save to load nice ^^ ...

i will stop playing sh3 sick of that random and **** crash every fo*** time.

When saving my game when loading, when playing. wth.

so anybody have any working solution, for fix those crash problem ?

am on win 8.1 but i dont think this is the problem ...

ok i am deleteing SH 3 and all files related so SH 3 btw i have steam version.

i also deleted all files in my documents.

I will re install sh 3 + gwx 3 and the mod am using.


can you please tell me how to save correctly for avoiding those crash and corrupt savegame ?

I'd love to help you, but sometimes it just happens. I always save surfaced, TC 1, at least 60 km from any port, sound check before so no ships are close, at least 50 km away from any sinking site and so on and on. And I save frequently. Like all the time. You just never know. As far as I know, your corrupted save will never work. So never overwrite old saves.

always make a new save and with different name, in calm sea, no sinking around no port around...

omg... ^^

10 years later there is hugh and great mod for SH 3, except a SH 3 savegame mod that avoid those stupid crash and thing.. :/

Who says that NYGM is going to prevent these crashes? Personally, for me those save game rules have payed off. I never had unexplained crashes following those rules. Unless I had a clogged up fan in my laptop.

nobody includ me, its just i want to try another big mod for SH 3 nothing else ...

like GWX Does, it is possible to have SH 3 in french language ? i mean menu and text only not the voice.

Some say other mods are much more stable than GWX. That said, in quite a few years I had no crashes (but my laptop overheating) and only a single corrupted save.
