Screenshots - is it possible to output to other than .tga?

When I do a screenshot from SH3, it comes out as a .tga file, which is a pain to convert, as my main image editor (Photoshop Elements) doesn't support this. Is it possible to change the default screenshot format to something more useful, like a .bmp file?

BTW I have the SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b install, which may affect how screenshots are handled, also Living Silent Hunter 3

Paint.net handles tga's well. Another thing that might help would be running SH3 in windowed mode and taking the screenshots by pressing alt+printscreen.

Thanks, I'll try Paint.net

How do I run the game in Windowed mode?

Also what's a good resolution to run the game in on a 1080p screen? I have SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b installed and it's not bad in widescreen, but there is some minor distortion of the shape of the UI )e.g. dials not quite round). Do I need to pick a 4:3 resolution? 1440x1080 perhaps (or maybe smaller, if running windowed)?

IrfanView is the way to go for me.
I've just uploaded the version I've been using for the last ten years and it works like a charm in Windows XP, 7 and 8.1.
This version, I made it portable, and you can also use the program in German and Spanish language.
You can easily convert you png, tga, etc files into jpeg (I use 90% quality).
Here's the link:

All my screenies are saved as .bmp files. I use NYGM with VanJast's 1920x1080 mod.

IMO Paint.NET is your best bet. Free, very capable, and shallow learning curve.

Sorry that I answer so late. I was on my phone when I read your post, and then I forgot about it.

Start SH3, go to options, select video options, tick off fullscreen.

You can then control the size of the window with a problem like Infinite Screen. It lets you move the window at will, and let's you change the size of the window at will.

InfiniteScreen shown in this clip:
