What controls vanishing objects when ship is sinking?
Hi,
when a ship is destroyed some parts vanish. I would like to know how this works? What controls which objects vanish when a ship is destroyed? Thanks in advance for any help! Regards, LGN1 |

I think this lies in the .zon file of the ship. The SH3ZonesCtrl controller. If the zone does not have a "SinkingEffects" controller, like all ship main models do, than the model will disappear once the ship has hit the seafloor.
Just a guess really. Anyhow. I wonder what interesting idea you'll come up with next. |

This makes me raise a question. Why do ships have to disappear after hitting the sea floor? Just a cosmetic thing, performance, etc?

The ship model disappears only when your uboat goes outside of the rendering radius of the model. If I'm not mistaken. Which is about 40km? or something like that. I could be way off with the distance here.

Nope. Not for me, at least, areo16.
I've just played convoy attack (naval academy), sank the big merchant ship, plunged myself into those dangerous waters and in less than 90 seconds after the merchant hit the seafloor, it vanished. |
