Default U-670 wreck identified by divers

Just heard the news in TV:

Divers in the Baltic Sea reached and identified the wreck of U-670. The boat was sunk in a collission with target ship Bolkoburg, on August 20, 1943, in the Gulf of Danzig. Half the crew survived the accident.

I couldn't find any site mentioning it yet but surely someone will write about it soon.

It will be interesting to see if it's left alone or recovery operations commence .

Default U 670 wreck has been found and identified

The wreck was found 20.06.2013 by Wojciech Jechna from the Bałtycka Baza Nurkowa (bazanurkowa.com). In September 2013, the sonographic examination of the wreck was made by Polish Navy (dywizjon Zabezpieczenia Hydrograficznego Marynarki Wojennej (ORP Arctowski)) and identification was stated as "type VIIC U-boat". In March 2015, the sonographic examination of the wreck was made by Maritime Institute in Gdańsk.

On 24 and 25.08.2015, a group of Baltictech divers (baltictech.com) composed of: Tomasz Stachura, Łukasz Piórewicz, Dimitris Stavrakakis, Jacek Kapczuk, Tomasz Zwara, Łukasz Pastwa and Daniel Pastwa with the assist of support divers (Maria Pastwa, Piotr Piórewicz), made an inspection of the wreck resting on a depth of 80-81meters in coordinates 54º46’N 18º45’E. During the dive was collected video material that allowed the final identification of the ship as a wreck of a German type VIIC submarine U 670.

Link to the identification video:

https://vimeo.com/161743120

Baltictech divers has also identified in previous years a number of others German U-boats in Hel Peninsula area:

U 768 - https://vimeo.com/97934454
U 367 - https://vimeo.com/78585591
U 272 - https://vimeo.com/71419505

Now we are extensively looking for the U 346, because the earlier found and wrongly identified U-boat wreck described as U 346 is in fact U 272. We have found on that wreck the 88mm deck gun, which is absent on the foto from the last dive of the U 346. The foto of last dive of the U 346 we have obtained from DUBMA in Cuxhaven/Altenbruch.
