I don't understand why someone couldn't just answer Linton's question and/or point him in the correct direction;

How can you tell a patch is installed?

instead of jumping on him because he asked the question?

All those posts by moderators stated clearly that only yes or no should be the answer. Linton's question is perfectly correct and has a right to be answered. But NOT on that topic. He is wellcomed (As you) to open a topic about it, no problem.

That is my question. Try not to jump on me.
No idea. Why don't you open a thread in the SH3 forum and ask about it? It's a good question if asked in the proper place

I understand that the moderators asked for conformity within the thread on many occasions. However, a ten page thread is not always managable by the new comer to that thread. A simple answer, like danlisa's, would probably had warded off the entire issue. Perhaps a little help from the moderators would save them and many others a load of agrivation. I don't know I'm just thinking 'outloud'.

Try to think of yourselves as facilitators ISO law enforcement.

EG When my airplane is below 10,000ft AGL I don't want someone telling me I'm going too fast. I would rather be asked my airspeed.

Like the Prune guys, I have a lot of time constraints, too.

I think you should read those Prune rules a little more closely, Chris. They pretty much say "We can do anything we want, we can choose to do nothing if we want". Sounds as draconian as our rules.

This is an amateur forum populated by amateur posters, most do not even use their real names. I don't know where you think I am supposed to get "professional" moderators from. I'm sorry you're unhappy with the forum rules and moderation. I'm quite satisifed with the moderators, nothing is going to change.

My comments to this: My posting regarding the "please answer yes or no" issue was general. It was to all of the folks posting in that thread. If i have anything personal to discuss with a member of subsim, i'll PM him or her. I dont flame anyone in public. If you have read my previous moderating posts, you will see that this is my way of moderating. I have the greatest respect for ANY member of subsim, bilge rat or ace of the deep. Im proud to help Mr. Stevens here on subsim, and as Takeda said, Neal is our admiral and can releave us from duty anytime. If you, Linton, have anything personal against me, i would be glad to have a rational and mature discussion about this on PM with you. Im sure we could sort things out then.
(BTW: I have recently recieved my degree in philosophy & psychology (yeehaaw), and believe me; i know my ethics and moral learnings... So, a "powertrip" isnt something that turns me on.. )
