Default Quick Question

How long does it take depth charges to sink a given depth?

Why is there no ‘Depth charges in the water’ warning like there was in SH3?

What are the different radius around DDs…

Thankyou

Hi Tramazi - the radii are ping range, listening range and seeing range.

A quick look on navweaps.com gives the following figure for the Type 95 depth charge.
Sink Rate: 6 feet per second

Dunno how accurately the game models this though

They're pretty loud when they land in the water. Maybe it just seemed redundant to have someone call it out too... possibly a little annoying after a while.

It is and most likely why they left it out. Hearing that over and over in the same fashion would drive me nuts.

A bout 2 weeks ago I got pinned down for 3 hours, above and below 600 ft, near the southern end of the Formosa Straights by 6 really peeved DDs. Something about my making the crew of 3 BBs swim home. I quit making hash marks @ around 200, in less than an hour. I was down there for two more hours, taking a constant bombardment. If someone had hollered the obvious for 3 hours, I think the crew would have beat him with a wrench.

As I finally made my escape, I unleashed 4 frustrated sonar stern shots (1 hit, a dud). I wouldn't have hesitated to load up the offender's carcass in tube 10 to appease the crew...
