Default Hedgehogs causing CTDs?

Anyone recall a post/posts about CTDs when an escort fires hedgehogs?

From mid-war on, I get will CTD everytime an escort with hedgehogs gets to the point where it should fire. I never actually see it fire.

Depth charges are no problem, just hedgehogs.

GWX - Lite Harbor Traffic (conflict with Lifeboats&Debris_v4)
GWX - Main Movie - 'Das Boot'
GWX - No Medals on Crew
GWX - Open Hatch Mod
GWX - VIIC41 Player Sub
Lifeboats&Debris_v4 (conflict with Lite Harbor Traffic)
Real Depth Charge
Increased ASW
GWX_Stay_Alert_16km_v1.2
WB's Mission Orders Lite v1.1
WB's Renown Replacement

I've had this problem since I started using GWX. It was not much of a problem as I kept dying before hedghogs were a problem.

Ive had a similar problem before but my mod loadout was completely different. Check "Real dc" and uninstall thst mod then try again. For me the crash wad the same.RIGHt before they launched. Could be an error with that file. But im not certain simce ur mod loadout looks very stable.

Hedgehogs will continue that trend. Believe me, I know. I've lost more than a few boats to the little demons.

Never have had your CTD issue but the one that jumped out at me from your list was the Increased ASW. I'm not familiar with that but....

Isn't Real Depth Charge just a sound mod?

RDC is a sound mod, but hedgehogs make sound when launched, so maybe...

Increased ASW gives larger aircraft a chance to have historical ASW loadouts instead of just bombs.

Worth a try. Thanks for the replies.

heres a question, a bit derailled from the OPs question but is there a mod to simulate more real aircraft tactics and weapons. I know some drop torpedos, would they waste a torpedo on a sub?

Torpedoes from ASW aircraft were not wasted; they were the best weapon they had. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_24_Mine

FIDO was more effective than depth charges, achieving a 22% success rate vs. 9% for DCs.

The Allies spent millions developing - and the Germans lost 37 u-boats to - the acoustic FIDO torpedo late in the war.

German radar detectors were good enough that the boats coulds get under well before the aircraft arrived, but the FIDO pursued them underwater, tracking the noise they made on the crash dive. A hit at any depth was a virtually certain kill.

Michael Gannon goes into some detail on development and use of FIDO's in his book "Black May".
Gave me chills during some of the descriptions of their operational use. I wondered what those doomed crews thought after being hit by one of those. The inrush of water and the uncontrolled dive into the abyss.

I couldn't stop shaking my head over how obsolete the U-boats and their weapons were by mid-1943 and on.

Here ya go. Enjoy!

Andwii, this answers your question as well. This mod gives a chance for aircraft to carry a more asw loadout, especially bombers. You'll see them drop depth charges as well as bombs.

As far as I know, there is no mod to change tactics of attackig aircraft. They are all pretty dumb.

Haven't returned to port to make changes to my mods as yet.

Will post when I do.

Not gonna let a little thing like CTDs cut short a chance at serious tonnage.

Edit: Had to go back to the In Base save. Removed Increaed ASW and Realistic Depth Charge mods, and restarted.

Work will keep me occupied for the remainder of the day. If I can play over the weekend, maybe I'll get lucky and get hedghogged.
