Default Film "Das Boot" Best Version

I have quite a few versions of the film "Das Boot" both in English and German with subtitles. But the best one in my opinion is the Digitally Re-mastered , Original Uncut Version of the 6 part Mini Series presented as One complete feature length uncut version. running time 4hrs 48 mins. (English speaking). Also got the same version, German speaking with English subtitles, which can be turned off. I play this sometimes, but not understanding German, I can't pick up most of the dialogue, but it seems more realistic in one sense.

I watch this film about once every three months, which I never seem to tire of. It sparks up some enthusiasm to playing SH3. Must have seen it over 100 times since it's release. Best ever Submarine film ever made. Might watch it again tonight, yes I think I will!

Hey guys

I have "Das Boot" on video (what's a video? ) and was contemplating replacing it for a DVD so this was a useful thread. Is a Blu Ray version worth the extra pennies as it's pre-Blu Ray?

The Blue Ray version is the Directors Cut version and doesn't cover the whole feature length of the Mini Series Version. which is the best version of all. As far as quality is concerned the Blue Ray version is not that much better. Take my advice and go for the Full Length Min Series. You can order it from Amazon for about £8 now I think. Just watched it again tonight and I enjoyed it just as much as I have always done. This film must rate as one of the best war films ever made.

Yes, the nearly-five-hour "Uncut" version is the one to see. I have all three versions and that's the only one I ever watch.

I just spent several minutes switching back and forth, and I can't see any difference between the two except the price. If you don't have Amazon Prime I'd go for a used copy in Very Good shape.

Good morning Sailor Steve (not sure what time it is where you are )

It was 1.30am when I put on my last post; it's now 8.00am uk time so I fell asleep but I'm now awake with the dawn chorus (well sea gulls )

Anyway I'll purchase the less in price version. I'll order it now. Something to watch to fill my time whilst travelling with work.

Good hunting guys

Im not a techy at all but I believe you will not get the full benefit of picture quality from blu-ray unless you are viewing it on a full HD tv.

That is true. I do have a HD TV and Blu Ray DVD player but I'll be watching the series on a portable player

I'm seven hours behind you, so if it's 08:00 where you are it's 01:00 in my town, which is Salt Lake City, in the Wasatch Mountans of Utah, USA.
