Yes Manos, I couldn't help myself lol. Gives them a bit if a mariner theme, will prob do a better theme on them for the final release boards.

Hopefully once I get them from supplier and built they work as intended. Would be great to get rid of the digital LEDs, they take the feel away a bit.

Will have to design a new UI for SH3 to remove all the redundant dials then also.

Hi Manos, progress is going slower than I expected.
Most of the delay is with suppliers, Out of 23 different orders for components I've placed only 4 have arrived so far, so boards are still unchecked to confirm they are functional compared to prototypes.

Also while I designed the Main board a week before the new Dual Gauge type board, I have yet to receive the main boards as Customs have messed up and now I have to wait 2 weeks for revenue to confirm correct Duty owned on them.

Bloody Govt agencies are so antiquated when it comes to getting thing done quick

For now enjoy a pic of the Beta Gauge Boards awaiting assembly

Very impressive work as ever, loving the nautical theme on the gauge board

Default A New Way To Play

Cheers guys, last of the components should be arriving today.
Hoping to get one built and tested this evening, everything going well.

Edit:
Murphys Law, missing a vital component Placed the order for the Zener Diodes but this means another few days delay.
Such is the life of prototyping.

On the plus side, I tested out my wave soldering oven and it works very nice.
Although 3 of the Capacitors (C9/10/11) managed to stand straight up of one of there pads, guess I need to adjust my solder amounts on the pads.

Default Dual gauge prototype

Finally got the Dual Guage prototype assembled and running.
There was a slight problem with the board that needed a few wires to get the main chip working correctly due to a voltage issue, these will be fixed in the final version.
My printer has died, so was unable to print off the graphics for the Torpedo Speed Inner Dial face. So blank white dial will have to do for now.
Though thanks to a nice fingerprint mark, dial can be seen to rotate quite well lol

Here is a video of it in action with both pointers rotating a 315 deg sweep.

Default Mainboard Built

Been a while since I had some news, been a bit slow on my end.
But finally got the components in for the main board and got the first one built, yaaah

Good news is its powering up and accepting code uploads.

Now the fun can start getting them Mainboard and Gauges talking to each other and working with SH3.

(will redesign this one as I choose very small components - so small it was a nightmare to get them soldered. Next revision will use slightly larger footprints).
Some of the resistors are 0402 footprints, will go with 0603 for next version. Less hair pulling applying solder and getting components sitting correctly.

Default A New Way To Play

Its been a while since I had any updates on this project. Well after a complete rewrite on the code to incorporate the new dual gauge.
I have a quick video to show it in action, SH3 is running and Gauge is linked to Sim via my custom SH3 communicator for Bi-Directional communications between Sim and Hardware.

New code also incorporated better needle control that also features Acceleration and Deceleration curves for better performance and less prone to error.

Faceplates and Dial are rough mockups for demonstration purposes only:

Hello Makman and Reaper7,been a long time. Recently a SH5 video found its way into my Youtube page and after watching it I instantly reinstalled it and glad to be back under the sea.Gotta ask why you guys have not transferred over to it?And also what happened to HAHD? I saw something about a built from scratch new sub sim from you guys called Atwar but nothing since.

Reaper, that is great stuff!Ever think about making an actual eyepiece you look into that has the scope graphics showing?I think that this would really add to the feels of using a periscope....or I might be just crazy here.
