A truly great actor in the full sense of the word; the fact he won two Tony Awards speaks volumes about his skills as an actor; you can always retake a scene in movies or TV, but you only get one shot each performance to get it right and make your mark; he was a well-respected Shakespearean actor; for most people, he was someone they saw on TV or in films, but those appearances just barely scratched the surface of his abilities...
I saw him most recently last year in several episodes of the TV series Blacklist and he was, even in older age, still a force on screen; I think a role he played in a TV movie, To catch a Killer, was one which showcased his abilities for nuance and absorption in a character; his depiction of serial killer John Wayne Gacy is still one of the most chilling characterizations of all time... RIP, Mr Dennehy... <O>

He was a great actor, liked him in the movie Cocoon.
Rest in peace.

He was always good... underrated or under-used maybe. His most memorable film for me was the oddly titled "The Belly of an Architect", although it was a disturbing piece
