No. Vista is stable.

Problem will come when they need to do something fast and all of Vista bloat will kill the performance. Oops. Too late. You are toast.

Well, they upgrade to Vista as 7 is just around the corner. I guess they will upgrade to 7 when 8 is just around the corner.

If I were upgrading, I would choose the established product that is proven for a mission critical app. Not the one that is brand new and shiny because it has bugs. They made the right choice.

They have waited for all the bugs to be worked out and to make sure they have application compatibility with their applications. The security benefits of the newer OS far outweigh the problems. Also, most of the computers that they use are pre-installed and locked down. They are going to be running preconfigured apps. They are not going to have user installation issues.

I am sure that once 7 comes out they will migrate much faster to that than they did to Vista. Most of the migration issues are not a factor as 7 is just Vista improved and cleaned up. The transition issues from Vista to 7 will be MUCH less than it would have been from XP to Vista RTM (no service packs).

I put in the infrastructure for a large company. That is my job. We cannot tolerate downtime due to bugs. Period.

We are still running 2003 if we have to put in a crappy Windows box. This is just an example. Solaris is where its at though.

XP is still the standard on the desktop too.

That is the first thing I turn off when I had a Vista system. I of course upgraded to XP!

Not sure how those desktop guys deal with Vista. I stick to Enterprise infrastructure only though so its not my problem!
