Default Assistance with Comparing Folder Contents?

I have a folder on my second hard drive that contains all my pictures taken since 1998.

On my wifes computer, on a second hard drive, is "SUPPOSEDLY" the same folder.

These computers are in a network that share most everything. My problem is that over the years I may have added pictures to one and not the other. I think each hard drive has pictures that the other one does not have.

I could never figure out the briefcase thing to synchronize each folder so they are identical. Does anyone have a suggestion for a program where I can tell it to go to work and bring these folders up to date so they are identical?, or do I just have to try harder to figure out the "briefcase, synchronize", thingy?

Copy 1 folder into the other and cancel all overwrites: all pictures that were missing are added. Do the same with the other folder and both should be synchronized.

Didn't think very long about this, might be wise to wait for someone else to chip in.

There are a few free solutions out there. Just google for file synchronization.
I use AllwaySync which is free if you don't go over 40,000 files a month.

Arclight nailed it on the head - again!

Easiest thing to do is copy one folder to a spot - then copy the contents of the other folder into the same spot, saying no to overwrites. Provided no filenames of different pics are the same name, the resultant folder will contain the contents of BOTH the seperate folders. Just make a backup of that or replace the two partials with it.
