Hey Gary,
nice to hear from you again.

I am testing on a bunch of systems here and with those of my TBT-mates. This covers systems from XP32 up to Win10/64.

What I am more irritated is my own code . I have been an active programmer for more than 30 years and when I look at older code - code that I myself had written, it sometimes leaves me shrugging my shoulders.

Over the years I have become more and more irritated about how much the APIs have been changed by Windows, rather said by Microsoft.

But I shall prevail. We will get that fixed. Constructive reports such as the one by "buntaro" really DO help.

Thanks guys!

Bl!tz, I still haven't had the chance to get XP 32bit back on a HDD. Tho hopefully soon. Been working like crazy and no time for computer play.

Buntaro, I found it and turned it Off. What about Shader Cashe and Ambient Occlusion ? On or Off? I've never gone into the NVidia Control Panel to change settings before. Actually I never even thought about it.

I'm away from my gaming PC right now, will post my nVidia settings later if you are interested.

One thing I recall though is that initially it was for some reason set to use integrated graphics instead of the dedicated one

Edit:

As promised, my settings:

1. Program: Silent Hunter III (sh3.exe)
2. Preferred graphics processor: High-performance NVIDIA processor
3. Settings for this program:
-- Ambient Occlusion: Not supported for this application
-- Anisotropic fitering: 16x
-- Antialiasing - FXAA: Off // this should be off, or the text and map drawings will become unreadable)
-- Antialiasing - Mode: Override any application settings
-- Antialiasing - Setting: 8x
-- Antialiasing - Transparency: 4x (supersample)
-- CUDA - GPUs: Use global setting (On) // completely unrelated
-- Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1 // should reduce mouse cursor lag if present
-- Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Single display performance mode
-- Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance
-- Shader Cache: Use global setting (On)
-- Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization: Off
-- Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Clamp
-- Texture filtering - Quality: Quality
-- Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: Off
-- Threaded optimization: Off // I believe this is the setting which might lead to CDTs when turned ON
-- Triple buffering: Use global setting (Off)
-- Vertical sync: Use global setting (Use the 3D application setting).

I do not quite know if these configuration-discussions would not be better placed in a different thread.

This is entirely true.

I frequently run into problems when I code on XP and test it on 7.

Default XP HIRES&MEM-PATCH

Hardly anybody plays SH3 in an XP-environment as can be seen here:
Poll: Installation of SH3 on anything later than WinXP (Vista, 7 / 8 / 10)

Thus I have now decided to remove that code and add something new as replacement:

1. Backup career & config
2. Restore career & config

and that is quickly done:

ldx #0
lda mmlst,x
jsr zipmmcc
inx
cpx nummm
bne clda
rts

and in that subroutine i read the filemanager.dll of every installation and zip that directory then.

Hi BL!TZKR!EG,
I've been getting back into SH3. Your program has made things a lot quicker and easier. Thanks for you hard work.
I am wondering if S3F knows which files to install into S3C Directories for GWX, OLC... I can't quiet find that info?
Also eagerly awaiting the stiebler integration!

Cheers,
Neug

Not for OLC. That's a gameplay-mod.
S3F does not install gameplay-mods. Even if some false informed persons (mostly Germans) still tend to believe so.
But yes, S3F knows the location of all your SH3-installations AND the location of ONE working S3C.
The supplemental file injection code is there, but still inactive, because I have found no time for testing yet.
As for S3S: That code is in the works. S3F downloads the original S3S (=Stiebler-Patch) and verifies it - that's how far I have come, because I have been VERY BUSY in the past 8 months with

I want to say thanks to Alfred/DEF for bringing me ahead with the S3C-files-injection and ROLL-BACK.

Thanks for yesterday's input, dude!

Okay, after testing SFSF-MODULE - The New Solution for "Steam" & "Starforce" for 4 weeks now, it seems that it contains no major bugs - except for when users WANT to try out its borders.

I leave the tests running for a while and include the modules as "working" to S3F.

I want to get the other stuff working...
