Steam no Steam
Hey All, New to Subsim but not to SH3. Played 3 and 4 many years ago when they 1st came out. I think I'm gonna like it here. Anyways I am looking to start modding my game. I thought I read somewhere that if using Steam version should load game into it's own folder and not into Steam library. Is this true? I was just going to start my mods with the GWX mod and then slowly add to that. Thanks in advance for the help.....

I couldn't find a good way to change the Steam directory without messing up my other games. Steam also won't let you create multiple copies of your game which sucks.

Hello gkhans,
I run SH3 with many mods including GWX via Steam and have no problems. Don't know what would happen if I were to verify the integrity of the files through Steam though... |

Hi
I use the steam version with some mods, and I do not experience any problems (other that I would have with DVD installation). First, in steam you can move your installation folder in options. You can have a special folder just for one game. Second, I think you can copy the SH3 folder in different place -- at game launch it will verify that steam is running and the game is in your library. Third, I don't see problems modding in steam folder, but you should keep backups in some way. Probably it better to have in separate one. If you do not ask to verify the cache, steam will not do it for you and will not rolldown to initial state. But if there some updates, steam will forces them (thanks Rockstar!). |
