Default SH4 too easy?

im playing sh4 1.5 with tmo, rsrdc and a few misc mods, mostly just visuals...im also playing on full realism...now im not sure whats going on but i seem to have no problem at all evading destroyers and staying alive...ive actually not been depth charged in forever, there have been times when ive managed to make them think im in another area..now this last patrol i did was with a sargo class, i fired a single torp at each ship and took out a light cruiser and a few destroyers all while they were hunting me down..is it just me or is silent hunter getting too easy? or am i just really getting that good? the s-boats are also an easy boat for me to manage..but now im using the sargo, USS Swordfish (ss-193)
i welcome a new challenge guys...so please give me some..

The year is the key. RSRD attempts to model the AI skill as historically close as possible. In the early years, Japanese anti-submarine skills were mostly poor. Keep going, their skills do improve.

You can always adjust the cfg or try Travs mod.

With any game once you learn how to respond to the AI you can beat it...most the time.

Could you post your mod list, including the order of activation? Because your experience seems inconsistent with TMO. I suspect something is getting overwritten in the mod activation.

Of course, as Armistead mentions, the AI can never improvise. So you can master it.

Once you learn TMO the AI is easy to master as long as you don't do something dumb. To me reality is not being able to go out and sink 100K about every patrol if you so choose and you can do it with TMO.

When I was playing I was using TMO with a tweaked version of Travs 2.2, added a very difficult AI, edited RSRD to use mostly vet and elite escorts all through the war and my own env..I got a fairly realistic game in tonnage.

Some things in code don't allow reality, so you have to decide what you're willing to do to make up for that...

You should feel lucky. Every time I play TMO the escorts pick me up and I can't get away from them. I just finished a game where I was waiting about 3500 yards off the port side of a convoy at periscope and moving at maybe half a knot. The destroyer had just been making his normal pattern then turns away and makes a bee line for me. I dive down to 350 feet, run silent and set speed at 1 knot and he wont let go, I should add that this is Mar '42. They shouldn't be that skilled yet.

One of them might have the Easier TMO AI mod enabled.

Not me. I have to avoid convoys at all cost because they seem to find me every time. I swear if the British had those skippers in '39 the war would have been over in 6 months.

earlier today i moved up to a gato class...The USS Drum, ive already hit a convoy, sank several warships and went into rabaul harbor and cleaned it out..unfortunatly there keeping me in the solomon islands and New Guinea..though i did take a trip to japan but the harbors i went into were duds, but i ran across a tiny convoy while leaving and sank a ship...got detected, depth charges were a fail though haha..i escaped unharmed! and when i got back they modified my sub alittle, looks better now!

You have never played against real players in the DD's or frigates, that is not easy I tell you.
