Hello, I am new

Hello Commanders and seafarers all over,

Playing SHIII and SH4 already for a very long time and occasional viewer of the message boards if stuck on something I never used the mods or games you made. Buying the SH5 somehow drove me to try it anyway.

Where are my so loved dials was the first question that came to mind when I first tried SH5. I was completely lost. I stood for at least an hour in front of the periscope trying every button on my keyboard to leave that post after destroying the 4 ships in the first game of the career. Can you imagine? Then I saw a small Icon trying to hide itself in vast dark space. Well by now you can see how I thought/think about SH5. I never googled more about patches then I did before. So I decided to turn to the real pro's after standing outside in dock after my promotion to Captain of the vessel not getting in anymore. This was the last drop....the drop that said....GET help.

Welcome to SUBSIM

For a much better User Interface, get DarkWraith's UI Mod or Reapers.
Check the SH5 Mods Forum for both of these.

You came to the right place to get help. Also the search function here is your friend. Some of the answers to questions you may have could be in older threads.

Thanks

Thank you so much, reallydedPoet. For the welcome greet ofcourse and the direction you think I need to get started modding the game. Could you be a bit more precise on where I start though?

Personally I would start with a couple of mods. DarkWraith's UI Mod and also his great mod for AI ( the stock AI sucks ).

Both of these are in the SH5 Mod's Forum. Check out the thread for each, read up on them and go from there. If you don't have JSGME ( Mod Enabler ) there is a nice " how to " guide for it below my signature.

JSGME Thread ( to download the App. ): Here
DarkWraith's UI Mod: Here
IRAI Mod: Here

There is also a Mega-Mod out, but I would try some of the smaller ones first, then once you get comfortable , try it.

WELCOME ABOARD!

One of the hallmarks of Subsim is our willingness to help others enjoy the games we love. I don't have SH5, so I'm not much help there, but pretty much all of us will answer questions where we can.
