Thx Jim. It's a '94 R1100RS BMW and she's my "baby"... Best dang sport touring bike I ever rode, she'll carve corners like a hot knife through butter and I can do 600+ mile days without shoulder or back fatigue. Even the Harley riders like her...

What a classic! Personally Jim, I think Honda makes great bikes, very reliable! Of all the bikes I've owned over the years, Hondas were usually my first choices. As a matter of fact, the Honda ST1100 almost got me to sell the Beemer...

The only downside to the Beemer is as my wife says. "You can't buy anthing for it less than $100!"

Well, at least the bike still looks good... (My hair is just about departed too. That is, its so sparce I can't find where I parted it anymore...)
Seriously, back in '76 I rode a '73 CB350F to and from the Naval Air Station I was based at. I looked like Icabod Crane on that thing...

Now that was a bike I always wanted but never got around to getting.

I'm sure they came in a variety of colours, but I only ever saw them in green personally

Yep green, just like that one! Now, imagine the guy in my earlier post as a 6'2" 165# 19 yr old kid straddling that thing... Yeah... the gate guards used to laugh too...

One thing I remember about it, it used to be as smooth as glass on the throttle and sounded a bit like a sewing machine once you got it wound up a bit...

Well in those days, Honda was the only Jap 4 stroke......the rest sounded like either petrol mowers or sowing machines (depending on engine size of course) to me

I remember seeing a few go-karts built with that little 4 stroke 350cc engine some years later... Very fast, scary kind of fast... A true "crotch rocket" in those days...

The other bike I remember seeing back in '71 I think, was the Honda GL1000. I lived on Guam then and the guys would bring stuff over from Japan duty free. The GL1000 looked at lot like a regular bike except for the engine, no fairing or bags yet...

Honda 350, 500. I split the difference. Twenty years ago I briefly had a red 400-Four. And yep, sewing machine describes it pretty well. But then back in 1967 I learned to ride on a step-through 50.

Nice!

My father in the early '70s was a semi-pro dirtbike racer in the Yucaipa, California area, riding a 125cc Rickman Matisse. He was a really good rider, getting his name and picture in the motorcycle mags of the day back then (Motorcycle News? - can't recall right now; I'd have to look it up in his scrapbook). When I was growing up I always loved seeing the pictures hanging in the garage of him kicking up the dirt on the turns in the racetrack. He got me into riding quads while I was growing up, but dirt-bike racing was never my thing.

Yeah the old Honda 50.....the one with the windshield. Not for protecting your legs from the elements, but more as a means of preventing you from reaching take-off speeds
