Putting some paintings in an open exhibition in Horncastle tomorrow...

I can place only three, think maybe these:

They're only small ones, 7X5"

Thanks, guys... the timber frames are made by a local carpenter/cabinet-maker. I spotted one in a gallery and thought "I must get him to make me some of those for my hare paintings"

They suit the subject so well, but they're expensive. He dries the timber slowly in a kiln, then it looks like he finishes the frame with varnish and wax.

Last couple of hours at home finalising whatever the wife deems important before setting off to the daughters wedding which takes place tomorrow.

Time to see what my hard earned money has accomplished.

Upon second glance...those frames do appear to be well rabbetted.... possibly even dado'd! But I was under the impression that one 'never lets the frame outdo the picture!' Good luck at the show!

Yes there is always that danger, but I think we're okay so long as I put them on suitably woodland settings

My newest research book came today - The Jasta Pilots, by Norman Franks, Frank Bailey and Rick Duiven. It includes a brief listing of ever single pilot who flew for Germany from August 1916 to November 1918, including victory lists. Not the aces, though, since these authors already did a book dedicated just to them. It's a welcome addition, and at $56 well worth the price.

They were really nice folks at the gallery too... nice to go and meet people like that again, instead of just sending everything through the mail.

Just saw the BBMF Lanc wheeling around and around over Boston (4 miles from here) a few minutes ago. Unfortunately, Moira had just set off on her bike with her camera.

Just got an excited call from the Gallery owner: while they were only halfway through hanging pictures for the exhibition, a lady came in and bought the 'Autumn Hare' painting. I have to go up with a replacement picture next week.
